REMEDIAL MASSAGE:
Common conditions treated with remedial massage include: headaches; occupational overuse syndrome; tendonitis; muscle spasm resulting from disc & joint injuries; and everyday muscle tension.
RELAXATION MASSAGE:
Also known as SWEDISH MASSAGE, it is usually performed to relieve muscle tension, improves circulation; skin & muscle tone and encourages stress relief & relaxation.
SPORTS MASSAGE:
Sports massage is applied to athletes to help them train and perform free of pain and injuries. We blend classic Swedish strokes with such methods as compression, pressure-point therapy, cross-fibre friction and joint mobilisation.
LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE:
Stimulates the functions of the lymphatic/ immune and nervous systems. It is very effective in treating oedema, whip lashes, inflammation & scaring (from injury, illness or surgery), as well as improving many other health conditions.
CONNECTIVE TISSUE MASSAGE:
The diagnosis and therapy is based on the interaction between the somatic and autonomic nervous system. By stimulating the connective tissues we can trigger a reflex mechanism to affect related organs, treat areas of chronic pain and inflammations.
REFLEXOLOXY:
Based on the principle that congestion or tension in any part of the foot mirrors congestion or tension in a corresponding part of the body. It can facilitate relief for sinus pain, menopausal symptoms, migraines and diarrhoea, but also back, neck and shoulder pain.
POSTURAL ASSESSMENT
A postural assessment to identify the structural deformities and the root cause of your problems allows Petra to design a tailor made treatment plan, using her wide range of skills and profound yoga, corrective exercise and Pilates knowledge.

QUALIFICATION DETAILS
Petra Winkler-Hirter, The Flow founder, combines her broad knowledge of the human body with a deep passion for health and wellbeing through massage and energetic healing work.
She qualified as a massage therapist in her native Switzerland and has expanded her skills through studies in Australia and India. She has expertise in Remedial Massage and specialised techniques including Pregnancy Massage, Reflexology, Lymphatic Drainage and Connective Tissue Manipulation—but also treats energetically through AcuEnergetics®.
Petra has been working as a Massage Therapist with the Australian Olympic Handball National Team since 2006 including the World championship Tour 07 in France.
Petra now brings her wide range of skills to Balmain. Registered with the Association of Massage Therapists AMT (Senior Level 2) and AcuEnergetics® (practitioner) she offers tailored treatments to meet the unique needs of each client. And by taking a holistic approach she provides long-term solutions while leaving you relaxed and energised after every treatment.
