SERVICES
Specialising in Therapy for Women
“ I specialise in Therapy for Women because women have hardhips that are specific to their gender. A confidential place is provided where women can feel safe and comfortable to explore more effective ways of coping in areas of emotional difficulty and challenging life experiences.
Common problems include:
Relationship & Marriage
Communication breakdown, destructive arguments, relationship drifting apart, understanding how long term marriage/relationships change over the years and how to bring more meaning as Individuals & as a Couple into the relationship, broken trust & and how to rebuild trust when both partners are committed.Individual and couples counselling available.
Low Self Esteem
Lack of confidence, negative self talk, doubt, anxiety, feeling uncertain, placing others in higher regard than self.
Mothering Issues
Parenting struggles, communication problems, undervaluing the mothers role, finding your way with career & mothering, understanding more about the average “good enough” mothering women do while raising children.
Poor Body Image
Women’s image of themselves is becoming increasingly problematic. Bulimia, anorexia are symptoms of much larger cultural issues. Most women do not have the freedom to eat without complications.Women compete against other women for the “idea” that being thin equates to happiness & being more desirable. Look at understanding what is involved in developing healthier eating habits, exercise and body image.
Past Trauma
Emotional, physical or sexual abuse. Post traumatic stress.
Depression
Gain a deeper understanding of what has contributed to your depression and how you can work towards a more meaningful and satisfying life.
Grief & Loss
Grief and heartfelt pain are experienced because of challenging life experiences. Understand more about how these painful experiences affect your life and sense of self. Explore and integrate how to nurture yourself during these times and build resilience in your own way.
As a professional Psychotherapsit I approach my work in a respectful and caring way with the clients I see . I also work with dreams that clients bring in to their sessions so they can gain a deeper understanding of themselves.
As human beings we cannot avoid the inevitable pain and suffering of life. We also have the capacity to change our life fundamentally, to shape it. Counselling and Psychotherapy offers clients a non medicalised approach where communication can lead to understanding, the safety to trust and find more depth, personal wellbeing & meaningful ways to engage in your life.
“When we cross the bridge from self-protectiveness to compassion and knowledge, we have changed our world. Without the ordinary occasion of human suffering - our own discontent - it is likely that we would never find the bridge.”
(The Resilient Spirit, by Polly Young Eisendrath, Psychologist & Jungian Psychoanalyst)
