SERVICES

Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine & Shiatsu in the Sydney CBD & Newtown

Do you suffer from back or neck pain, headaches, fatigue, digestive problems or stress? If so, acupuncture can help you!

Highly specific treatment plans aimed at reducing and resolving the blocks to your health and wellbeing are offered. Acupuncture is part of a system of primary healthcare that is able to address a wide range of illnesses and health complaints. Best of all it is completely natural!

Your acupuncture consultations include:
  • A thorough assessment of your current and past health
  • A personalised treatment plan, including acupuncture treatment
  • Dietary and lifestyle recommendations specific to your needs
Efficacy of treatments is often increased by using acupuncture in conjunction with herbal medicine

    Tom specialises in:
  • Resolving musculo-skeletal disorders – including acute, post-acute and chronic conditions.
  • Pain management – acupuncture has long been recognised by the mainstream health system for its ability to reduce sensations of acute and chronic pain.
  • Stress reduction – stress is the bane of the working person’s existence. Chinese medicine sees physical and emotional stress responses as manifestations of internal imbalance and treats them accordingly.
  • Menstrual disorders & conception care – more and more research is coming to light on the beneficial effects of acupuncture for resolving period pain, aiding fertility and for enhancing the effects of IVF treatment. Menstrual disorders such as PMT, PCOS, endometriosis, amennorhoea and dysmennorhoea respond very well to Thomas' treatments.

The initial consultation will determine an appropriate treatment plan which may involve a course of treatment over a period of time depending on the severity of the issue. Treatment plans are flexible in accordance with your needs, with the primary concern being the resolution of the problem.

Regular acupuncture treatment is a wonderful way of maintaining health and vitality to keep you at your optimal level of wellbeing.

The World Health Organisation states that based on controlled clinical trials acupuncture can be effectively used to treat many diseases including the following:
  • lower back pain, headache, neck pain, knee pain
  • adverse reactions to radiation or chemotherapy
  • depression (including depressive neurosis and depression following stroke)
  • nausea and vomiting
  • postoperative pain
  • sciatica, sprains, tennis elbow
  • morning sickness
  • rheumatoid arthritis
  • stroke
  • allergic rhinitis, including hay fever
  • period pain (primary dysmenorrhoea)

    Chinese Herbal Medicine
From the common cold or flu, to decreased immunity, stress, digestive issues, menstrual complaints or insomnia, Chinese herbal medicine can help. When prescribed by a skilled practitioner Chinese herbs have the capacity to change – and save – your life.

    Your Chinese Herbal consult includes:
  • a detailed and thorough assessment of your current and past health
  • a specific diagnosis according to Chinese medical principles
  • a tailored treatment plan focussed on the resolution of your health complaints
  • dietary and lifestyle recommendations particular to your needs
  • Chinese herbal medicine prescription
Additionally, we offer combined herbal medicine and acupuncture or shiatsu consultations – integrating treatment modalities in this way can often bring quicker resolution to your health complaints.
Chinese herbal medicines prescribed by Tom are in granule and capsule forms for your ease of use – no need to boil up raw herbs!

    Shiatsu Massage
Shiatsu is commonly used to reduce stress and anxiety, pain in the back and neck, insomnia and fatigue to name just a few. Tailored to your specific needs a treatment will also:
  • Promote a sense of deep relaxation
