Naturopathy and Western Herbal Medicine
Naturopathy and Western Herbal Medicine provide a unique support for your health. These therapies aim to work with (rather than against) the body’s natural processes to restore and optimise your health, energy and well-being. Naturopathy focuses on providing a holistic assessment and treatment – meaning that all aspects of your health (physical, mental, emotional) are considered. No matter where you are or what you are dealing with, naturopathy aims to work with you in providing a solid foundation and support to your health.
Treatment may involve herbal medicines, nutritional supplements, dietary suggestions and lifestyle advice. Iris analysis is also available.
Bowen Therapy
Bowen is a fantastic technique that gently influences muscles, tendons, fascia, ligaments, joints and nerves in order to promote the body’s own ability to heal and correct itself. Developed by the late Mr Tom Bowen (from Victoria) this ‘less is more’ approach to body work is gaining worldwide appeal.
Conditions that have often been found to respond well to Bowen Therapy include (but are not limited to):
• back pain and sciatica
• digestive and bowel problems
• earache and TMJ problems
• migraines and other types of headaches
• fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome
• hip, knee, ankle and foot problems
• menstrual and hormonal irregularities
• neck and shoulder problems (particularly ‘frozen shoulder’)
• pelvic tilt and leg length discrepancies
• respiratory problems and hayfever
• RSI, carpal tunnel syndrome and tennis elbow
• sports and other traumatic injuries
Unlike traditional physical therapies (such as massage), Bowen does not mean that you have to strip down to your underwear or sacrifice your hair and skin to the use of messy oils. Bowen moves can be performed over light clothing while still bringing about a state of deep relaxation and stress relief. It is safe for everyone – from infants and pregnant women all the way through to the elderly.
It is recommended that other physical therapies best be avoided for up to 5 days following a Bowen Therapy session to maximize results.
Dorn Spinal Therapy
Relatively new to Australia, Dorn Spinal Therapy is an effective technique to encourage and maintain correct spinal alignment. You may be surprised at just how much your spine affects (and is affected by) the goings on in the rest of your body. A pain in your wrist may well be referred from your neck. A pain down your leg may be referred from your lower back. A leg length discrepancy may be the cause of your lower back ache. Encouraging and supporting your spinal health will go a long way to supporting the health of the rest of your body.
Some conditions that may benefit from Dorn Spinal Therapy include (but are not limited to):
• back pain
• neck pain
• headaches
• digestive problems
• sciatica
• hip problems
• knee problems
• jaw problems
Dorn Spinal Therapy involves balancing your skeletal alignment by combining resistance to key points on the body with active movement. It is very gentle, involving no sudden impacts, 'cracking' or 'crunching'. It is also sustainable, in that relevant exercises and lifestyle recommendations will be suggested to you based on your presenting condition or structure, in order to encourage continual spinal health.
VLA (Bio-Impedance Analysis)
VLA stands for Vitality, Longevity and healthy Ageing. Bio-Impedance Analysis (BIA) is our non-invasive screening tool used to quickly and accurately measure a variety of parameters, including fat, muscle, fluid balance and biological age of the human body.
This test is best complemented with a naturopathic consultation in order to combine information from your VLA results and health history to provide you with a treatment plan unique to your specific needs. Your VLA results provide the baseline – like a ‘snapshot’ of your current health – allowing us to track your progress in an objective, measureable way.
