Yoga is a simple and natural way of learning about yourself, about your body and your health. Making progress comes from extending your ability to refine your future focus. For example better questions lead to better answers and better outcomes.

You might know that Leonardo Devinci said as he began to age “ You know, all this time I thought I was learning how to live, when, in fact I was learning how to die”

My own teacher used to teach, “it is better to live with a healthy body and it is better to die with a healthy body”.

Coming to class

The asana (posture) classes suit fit beginners and above. You will be given all the instructions you need to develop a valuable understanding of the practices.
When you phone you will be asked about your health and you are welcome to ask a wide range of questions.


The power of the practice

The real power in the practice comes from something that’s already inside you. Being stuck in life takes something away from you. Life is a journey and you choose by action or inaction the path you take. You may not be aware of the things that make you strong and add value to your life, but they are there, inside you.

Ross has had the blessing of having a remarkable teacher Roma McMahon. Roma, now retired taught, for 43 years and Ross was her last student teacher.

Ross did his formal studies with the IYTA (Australia’s oldest yoga teaching institution).

News letter January 12
Welcome and welcome back, it’s so perfect the way time keeps moving forward. The new year is here and for each of us the ongoing opportunity to find and fulfil more of the value things that make life expansive.
For each of us there are life lessons that wait to be explored. There are combinations of little things that add up to make a huge difference in the way each of us progress, such as acceptance, direction, concentration and peacefulness, just to name a few.
Last year we touched on a yogic technique that is truly valuable for creating space between our thoughts and actions and our actions and reactions, the Observer Position. This year there are 2 new practices that we will occasionally touch on, the first is an extension of last year’s technique but it involves deepening the inner experience of consciousness. This is used for adding quality and value to the relationship we have with self, it is very grounding and provides a place of personal foundation. The second is another equally simple technique or practice, which expands and enhances ones understanding of foresight. This teaching has application on several levels but the main purpose at the beginner levels involves understanding and strengthening the way we assess possibilities.
In the general class as always we do a blend of work that incorporates several levels of capacity. With new people attending the first one or two classes, will have work levels which will allow me to explore your current physical range of potential and let me develop frameworks for future classes. This year fortunately you have a choice of classes with the 108 power yoga class now on, on Thursday evenings. In this class I take a little more of a coaching role and you will find the work challenging in the most delightful ways.
If you’re starting in the Monday class you are joining a group of people who are diverse and interesting and I will endeavour to introduce you to one or two people if you like.
If you are starting the Thursday class we are a fairly new class and as a part of this classes make up you will get to know everyone attending.
Please feel free to ask me any question any time and just for your reference I do not have a guru, I am not a guru or swami. I trained with Roma a teacher who taught for 40 years through the IYTA. My personal field of reference is reasonably broad in the yogic cannon, again this year over the class break I have been away to an ashram engaged in research on subjects for this year’s class.
If the first lesson you learn in class is to listen to your body and not work though pain, you will have learnt one of the most important lessons you can have in any yoga class.

News Letter December 2012
Well this is the time of year to remember how much you love life. We often look back at the end of the year and do that annual review. In many respects there are two sets of thinking at play during the review, one is the person who thinks about how happy they are with their year and the other who thinks about what else they could have done. Then regardless of which side you fit into we tend to justify our reasoning and the end result is happiness.
Many many thanks to everyone for their attendance. As a yoga person I am suppose to practice a high level of detachment but I have to tell you I love looking out into the room and seeing you working at the practices. There are things known about how wholly good a yoga practice can be and I’m sure there are things yet to be found out.
During the year end break I most usually go to an Ashram, the Ashram I mostly go to has done a big clean up in its library and all those hard to find books and references have gone off their shelves. So there may be an adventure awaiting me in my search into my areas of interest. If you have any inquiries please let me know I’m happy to do a little research.
The 108 power yoga class has started and just now we are working at level one, one of three levels. It could be a very popular class and provide a base for more classes in the newyear.
This year Monday night Yoga will finish on the 12th of December with a very special no cost thankyou class on the 19th and we will be back on the 30th of January.
The Thursday class will go on until the 15th of December so any one from the Monday class who would like to experience the class can come along. The Thursday Power Yoga Class starts back on the 26th of January.

The special class this year is something that is done for special reasons within traditions. This class is based around the exploration of a variety of observable functions of awareness. Both the Monday and Thursday class are invited to attend and you are welcome to bring friends or family members with you, they will need to bring a matt or travel blanket to lay on. There is no physical work in this class it is in fact based on relaxation practices.

So thank you everyone I hope the rest of the year provides you with the best circumstances and lots of wonderful opportunities, remember the words of Thomas Edison ..” If we all did the things we are really capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves.”
