Tryfoss Therapies
Naturopathy
Naturopathy treats the person not just the symptoms or disease.
At Tryfoss Therapies emphasis is on the importance of a heathy diet and lifestyle in the maintenance of physical emotional and spiritual well-being. Clients are encouraged to take responsibility for their health and given information which will motivate them to make beneficial lifestyle and dietary changes. The basic philosophy suggests that the body has a natural ability to heal itself, when supported through difficult times using the most natural and least invasive therapy available. By integrating conventional health sciences with a range of natural therapies and traditional medicines, Naturopathy 'holistically' treats the patient's mental, emotional and physical states for a more lasting effect.
Naturopaths do not replace your GP, we offer an alternative philosophy and method to the treatment of illness, and will often spend longer in consultation with the client. An initial appointment may take between 1.5 -2 hours during which your medical history and general lifestyle will be reviewed in order to determine a naturopathic treatment regimen suited to your individual needs.
Herbal Medicine
Herbal Medicine is a major part of any Natural Medicine practice. The actions of herbal medicines are well documented and have been shown to be beneficial to the treatment of a range of ailments, in particular chronic disorders such as recurrent headaches, skin disorders, allergies, arthritis, digestive problems, menstrual conditions, and emotional conditions related to stress, anxiety and depression.
At Tryfoss Therapies herbal medicines are mixed to suit your individual needs. When we do prescribe 'packaged herbal medicines' and nutritional supplements, these are professional 'practitioner only' products, sourced and produced to meet high Australian industry standards.
Nutrition
Nutrition is the relationship of foods to the health of the body. Good nutrition is essential for maintaining normal organ and reproduction function; resistance to infection and disease and facilitating repair following injury. For this to occur all the essential nutrients: carbohydrates, fats, protein, vitamins, minerals and water must be supplied and utilised in adequate balance to maintain optimal health and well -being.
Our individual requirements are influenced by a range of factors: our age and gender; diet; body volume; health status/illness; activity level and lifestyle. An efficient digestive system, that processes and metabolises effectively is also essential to good health and well -being.
When the system is disrupted by illness or trauma, its ability to function effectively is diminished, leading to digestive or absorption abnormalities and metabolic irregularities resulting in deficiencies of essential nutrients, illness and disease. This is where professional guidance can assist you in recovering your vitality and good health.
Massage Therapy
The movement of the hands over the body physically stretching the muscles, encouraging circulation, inhibiting muscle spasm and either sedating or stimulating the nerves to ease pain or promote function has been shown to lead to improved healing, as well as preventing some stress related illnesses. Massage has been proven to have a diverse range of positive effects on the body:
Physically
Relaxes and provides general health maintenance.
Promotes deeper and easier breathing
Relieves tension-related headaches
Relieves muscle tension and stiffness
Improves flexion, range of motion & efficiency of movement
Reduces pain, spasm, swelling & scar tissue formation.
Improves healing of injured muscles & sprained ligaments.
Improves circulation & reduces blood pressure.
Strengthens immune system and disease prevention.
Mentally and Emotionally
Reduces mental stress - relaxed, aware state.
Reduces levels of anxiety.
Improves capacity for clearer, calmer thinking.
Increases ability to monitor and respond appropriately to stress signals.
Satisfies the need for caring and nurturing touch.
Promotes a greater ease of emotional expression
Increases awareness of the mind/body connection.
Bowen Therapy
Bowen is a dynamic system of muscle and connective tissue therapy, which assists the body’s own healing resources to achieve balance and harmony, allowing relief from pain and discomfort. It is safe to use on anyone from babies to the aged and benefits are often seen after the first session.
Bowen Therapy is a completely wholistic modality, which produces an integrated body response, thus improving circulation, lymphatic and venous drainage, and assisting assimilation (nutrients) and elimination (toxins). It involves gentle moves on specific soft tissue sites which stimulate energy flow and empower the body’s own resources to adjust, realign and heal, thus improving joint mobility, posture and the normalisation of cellular physiology and tissue integrity.
Bowen may be used in a broad range of complaints from sports injuries to chronic complaints and has been shown to be effective for a range of disorders balancing the physical, mental and emotional planes.
Guided Meditations
At Tryfoss we regularly use guided meditations as a way to remove the negative effects of stress and facilitate positive change in the lives of our clients. Unlike general guided meditations we tailor your individual session to your particular needs and use Hypnotherapy techniques to deepen the experience. During my twenty plus years of teaching I regularly used guided meditations to successfully relax an entire class group of 30 or more children and in some instances achieved better playground and classroom behaviours. The Session: Your session will usually take around an hour and you will take home with you a follow-up CD, again personalised to greater enhance your meditation practise
In situations where conventional medical procedures are required I can also support and assist your recovery using a range of complementary therapies
