The Dieting Merry-Go-Round
Do you look for the latest diet to try out? Do you regularly find yourself lapsing from those diets by eating “bad” food? If you’re stuck on the dieting merry-go-round, here’s a solution for you. No more yo-yo dieting or falling for weight-loss fads – just simple eating & lifestyle principles that will last you a lifetime.
Getting off the diet merry-go round
Chances are that you have at sometime tried to lose weight one way or another. You may have followed a food plan, eaten only certain foods, or gone for two weeks eating only grapefruit. In other words, you have dieted. Take a look at yourself in the mirror. Have you reached that dream body by following all those trendy diets? Again, the odds are that you haven’t. Why not, when physiologically eating only grapefruit would make the weight drop? The answer is: because in the long run that is not the kind of eating our bodies were made for. Following one trendy diet after another will not only mess up your body, it will also drain your energy and health. Here are a few easy steps to normalizing your eating, and eventually losing the extra kilos.
Change your attitude
The first step out of the destructive dieting cycle is to change the way you think about weight loss. The major change needs to come regarding speed. Among all the “quick fix” diets we have become so accustomed to the “fast results” thinking, that we tend to forget our bodies’ natural way of functioning. Your body is an extremely intricate and well-designed organism, programmed to handle almost any situation. If you want to keep it functioning that way, you need to listen to it instead of trying to feed it unbalanced & restrictive diet solutions. Your body will not drop the excess weight and keep it off in just a few months, (assuming you have more than five kilos to drop). It will take time, but the good news is that when you accept this and slowly shake the extra weight, it will stay away.
Balance is the key
Vibrant Nutrition is not a magic pill or a quick fix, but it does involve you taking an active role in your own health, enabling you to gain the knowledge to continue to eat well for life. We work on the 80:20 rule. You’ll have parties, drinks and meals out, and sometimes you’ll have a bad day, but if you eat well 80% of the time, you’ll be doing well.
Yes, you read that right. Alcohol and chocolate are acceptable as part of your diet, just in small amounts. It is not just what you eat, but how much of it you eat. If you eat one chocolate bar, you will not gain a kilo. If you eat a whole box of chocolate bars, you might. Most binges (that ruin your diet) come as direct results from restricting yourself from certain foods, labelling them as “banned”. When you then face a temptation or turmoil, your protective walls tumble down and you go for the “banned & bad” food to make yourself feel better.
Afterwards comes the guilt, and a new, strict diet. Until the next lapse occurs. This cycle can go on for years, and it is not healthy for your body. The good news for sufferers inside this cycle is that when you manage to work your mind not to label foods “good” and “bad”, and instead focus on the amount eaten, you will be freed and can forget the guilt surrounding eating. There is nothing bad in eating the occasional chocolate bar. It’s about balance.
Get inspired about fresh food
Vibrant Nutrition is here to help inspire you about quality, fresh and seasonal foods. We work with you to find healthy, fresh foods that you love to eat and find easy to prepare. We provide you with plenty of resources on food, recipes and ingredients.
Step out of the dieting torture
You don’t need to be a slave to diets any more. Diets never work, because nobody can eat that way for the rest of their lives. Trendy diets prey on the initial enthusiasm of people wanting to lose weight, but the long-term effect is what should be focused on. And of course, you can eat chocolate again (in small amounts).
Vibrant Nutrition helps you develop a personal eating roadmap and get clarity on how to eat to be your best.

“I have seen first hand the damage that a poor diet can do to a person’s health and wellbeing. What many people don’t realise, though, is that healthy eating can be introduced easily and effectively, and can have a profound positive effect on the quality of life for people and their families.
Healthy eating helps people and families in so many ways, and not just in physical ways. My goal is to reverse the global trend of unhealthy eating and increased disease one client at a time. Helping people make the changes needed for them to achieve more in life and improve their level of health and quality of life brings me a great deal of satisfaction.
