"Be well on your way"
SERVICES Do you ever think to yourself "There has to be a better way to live my life" but have no idea how to go about it or where to start?
Kinesiology is a facilitator of change. As a healing therapy, it can assist you in alleviating injury and easing pain, discomfort or distress. Kinesiology can shed light on issues that are troubling you, giving you space to deal with them in a more constructive way. It can lead you to a greater awareness and understanding of yourself and your world, allow you to be in tune with yourself and expand your opportunities and skills to make better choices for yourself on your own way ahead.
Your body
Sometimes our body tries to get our attention by displaying physical symptoms and ailments, possibly giving notice of things that are out-of-kilter within. Do you experience, or can you relate, to any of the following?
- Are you in physical pain, distress or suffering from some form of chronic disease?
- Are you chronically unwell or fatigued and just can't get back to normal health, no matter what you try and how hard you try?
- Are you feeling exhausted and running on nervous energy?
- Are you feeling stressed from the difficulty of juggling all the competing interests in your life?
- Are you feeling frustrated, anxious, fearful, depressed or worried?
- Are you having trouble sleeping or waking up almost too tired to face the day?
- Have you lost your enthusiasm for life and feel stale, just "going through the motions"?
- Has a crisis left you flattened and unable to cope with the simplest of things?
- Is your thinking fuzzy and slow? Is your memory just not what it used to be? You can't focus and think clearly?
- Do you find yourself reacting emotionally instead of taking the initiative after careful and considered thought?
- Do you feel incapable of making a decision in case it is the wrong one?
- Are you at a crossroads in your life, or have you lost your way, and don't know which direction to take?
- Do you feel that the life you are living could be a life better lived where you flourish and move forward with confidence, joy and enthusiasm?
Your story
"Mind over matter" is not just a trite saying. Your body has recorded the story of your whole life journey so far.
Your story is based on your experiences and the way you see or understand yourself and your world. Your story is shaped by your personal beliefs, attitudes and thoughts which create an emotional response. If you tend to think negative thoughts, which may come from beliefs which limit you, then uncomfortable emotions can follow. These emotions can sometimes seem to rule our life and dictate our reactions in ways we do not like.
If we are not consciously aware of all the influences on us in our life we can write our story in a way which we would not do if we had better awareness and knowledge of the possibilities available to us. In light of this, we are limited in how much change we can make on our own.
Stress
In this context, stress can be seen as a measure of how far away we are from our own natural balance and is evidenced by the symptoms our body is revealing to us.
Stress can just creep up on us. Or it can result from a long forgotten trauma or an unexpected crisis for which we are not equipped, leaving us caught on "the wrong foot".
Even in our modern world "survival" is still an issue. Tens of thousands of years ago when life was basic, precarious and surrounded by physical danger, our ancestors' bodies responded automatically to danger at the physiological level. This was to ensure their survival by readying them to fight, run away or freeze on the spot.
Today our world is very different but our bodies still respond automatically in the same way to real and perceived threats.
The effects of stress can stay with us and not fully dissipate, leaving our body in a chronically stressed state. This may feel so normal that we are unaware of it. In fact, we may even be addicted to our stress level, and the high from the chemicals our body releases, and not be aware of it. If this goes on long enough, one day we can just "hit the wall", exhausted when our body's resources are so depleted that we can no longer continue in the same way. By this stage we are likely to have many symptoms and we are ill.
Kinesiology and the body mind connection
Kinesiology enables us to tap into all the recorded details of your own life story including those parts which are not serving you as well as they could. This may also include an inner resistance to change as the need for protection and survival can conflict with the need for change and growth. Kinesiology relies on the close interconnection between your mind and body to help identify the cause of your specific issue or problem which is causing your stress, and also reveals the key to your own solution.
Your body has its own innate intelligence and wants to heal itself and maintain its own balance. It will tell us what we need to address to allow a return to balance, whether at the physical, chemical, emotional or mental levels. When given the chance this is what it will do with a consequent change in levels of pain, distress or dis-ease.
Kinesiology can thus be the catalyst to help you change your way of thinking. With greater awareness it is possible to change your thoughts and think for yourself from a new perspective in a new way. Newly perceived possibilities are now available and within your reach. In this way you can reduce your stress and difficulty and change yourself so that you live your own life in the way that is right for you.
Addressing the cause of your issue also addresses the symptoms so you can feel better, increase your wellbeing, have better health and vitality, have greater awareness of yourself and your world, take responsibility for your own life and find your own way ahead with confidence, joy and enthusiasm.

My Qualifications
Decades of living have brought me here today talking to you. I swam like a fish as a kid, did OK in races and decided about the age of 12 to have a crack at the next Olympics. I set the goal, did the work (which was more like play) and made the 1964 Olympic Team. A few years later I gained a law degree from Sydney University Law School (a bit less like play) and practised as a solicitor for 15 years. By then I had married and had two children, which changed the direction of my life. I then ran my own legal systems consulting business and did many small courses in personal communication and development, including 3 years of training in each of counselling and psychodrama. I also picked up a Graduate Certificate in Dispute Resolution from UTS, qualifying me as a mediator. But questions outnumbered answers and I eventually arrived at natural therapies via a couple of weekend courses in Reiki levels 1 & 2. I studied remedial massage, aromatherapy and integrated body therapies at Australasian College of Natural Therapies (and gained Diplomas) then just kept on going as I learnt more. This led me to study Holistic Kinesiology at the College of Complementary Medicine and answers to old questions started arriving and integrating (along with another Diploma). Of course, this led to more questions! At the end of 2009 I was a member of a team of complementary therapists who worked for 6 weeks in the slums and orphanages of Nairobi and other parts of Kenya. We treated men, women and children affected by violence and trauma using natural therapies. I was the only holistic kinesiologist in the team. We also trained many community groups and hospital staff to use our techniques enabling them to treat others, leaving a continuing and expanding legacy. This experience encouraged me to keep learning more about the body's stress response so I studied the effects of survival stress reactions on the brain, nervous system and body (Neural Organisation Technique levels 1 & 2) and the physiological consequences of unanticipated shock on the body (German New Medicine levels 1 - 4). I have also studied Matrix Therapies life coaching and treatment programmes.
I am inspired by, and have commitment and dedication to, my work and am humbled by its supportive and empowering effects on people's lives. I am glad that I can share my skills and experience with you.

"I had never really known of Kinesiology before seeing Gillian Chapman. I didn't ever think I had any great problems apart from the constant guilt I carried that I could never do enough to please my mother. This ultimately had an impact on my own family which is why I decided to try to help myself understand and deal with the problem. Kinesiology was suggested. Gillian's environment immediately relaxed me. The room smelt beautiful and she spoke quietly and professionally. She was gentle in her approach but able to help me work through my feelings and allow me start eliminating those self doubts and put my situation into perspective. I am grateful to Gillian for giving me this calmness and helping me with the confidence I need to deal with my situation.
Thank you so much Gillian! Geraldene"

"After my kinesiology session with Gillian, not only was I amazed at the difference but it was a visible difference to all those around me. Years of struggle to get back on my feet. I really wished I had of known about this type of treatment earlier, it would have been my first choice. My issue was with muscles as well as a bio-chemical and this is where I found positive results."
K.M. 40, Hornsby
