Education and Therapy for Eating DisordersEATFED
Welcome to EATFED
(Education And Therapy For Eating Disorders)
EATFED provides an Intensive Outpatient Treatment Facility that supports your recovery from eating disorders along with any medical treatment you might be undergoing. We have a unique approach that is supported by the latest research and based on the work of Dr Anita Johnston. (Read her book "Eating in the Light of the Moon").
The Outpatient facility allows you to continue to work or study and receive intensive treatment. This is the first treatment centre of its kind in Sydney.
We also offer individual therapy for women suffering from disordered eating and those who may be supporting someone recovering from an eating disorder.
EATFED's directors are experienced counsellors and psychotherapists who have Masters qualifications or are currently undergoing Masters degrees. Sue Paton is a registered and qualified counsellor, psychotherapist and educator with over 15 years experience.
Evonne Englezos holds a Graduate Diploma of Counselling and is currently completing a Masters of Applied Social Science (Counselling). She has first hand experience from working in one of Sydney's major eating disorder treatment centres.
EATFED adheres to the guidelines set down for the treatment of eating disorders by the Psychotherapy and Counsellors Federation of Australia (PACFA).
Our Approach
Our approach is from a foundation of Humanistic and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, integrating Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, which works through a special quality of relationship. Our program is a 16 week group therapy treatment.
Psychotherapy can provide a new model of what a close relationship can be; it can teach you to reflect on feelings, events and patterns of your own behaviour in a way that you have been unable to before; this can compensate to some degree for nurturing experiences you never had as a child; it can be an opportunity to face some unpleasant facts about how you really operate in relationships; it can offer a safe haven where feelings of shame no longer present a barrier to self-exploration.
Call us today and we can discuss how together we can find a way to help you move forward from where you are now.
