We believe much that is purported to be true is tainted by self serving interests of large companies & groups extolling superficial answers to our real health and happiness issues. Of course, by not addressing the causes behind the symptoms they can continue to produce and sell these products and ideas on an ongoing basis, arguably at our expense.

Healthy skepticism of some conventional medical advice from “politically correct” mainstream health organizations or pharmaceutical companies we believe is prudent.

We hope this information is helpful and ads to your health & fitness options in conjunction with advice & treatments from your medical practitioner or other professional health care providers.

Pilates

Pilates is a body conditioning programme designed to teach efficient movement patterns and provide general wellbeing using controlled exercises and deliberate breathing patterns.

These classes will challenge and develop your core stability however the focus will be on quality of movement rather than quantitiy. Pilates Principles teach us how to move and what to focus on.

The Wellness Centre Wollongong incorporates a Mindful Movement approach to all classes. Mindful movement promotes body awareness through focused and precise exercises. Using mindful movement your body learns (and re-learns) how to move at its most optimal level.

The focus in these classes will be on understanding and applying Pilates principles not just learning the exercises.



Yoga & Pilates

The Wellness Centre Wollongong incorporates a Mindful Movement approach to all classes. Mindful movement promotes body awareness through focused and precise exercises. Using mindful movement your body learns (and re-learns) how to move at its most optimal level


Hatha Yoga
A slow-paced stretching class with some simple breathing exercises and simple meditation. Open to everyone, from beginner to intermediate. This is a good place to learn basic yoga poses, relaxation techniques & become comfortable with yoga in a encouraging and non-competitive atmosphere.Suitable for ages 14 years and up.

Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa means "flow", a process of linking one pose to the next with a fluid quality. Movements are co-ordinated with the breath, allowing presence of mind from one moment to the next encouraging "meditation in motion". The sun salutation forms the bases of the flow in this strong practice, creating dynamic energy, internal heat, flexible strength and strong mental focus. It adds a cardiovascular element to the practice that helps improve fitness and endurance.

Preggy Belly Pilates on the Ball
Pre Natal Pilates classes to strengthen your body & mind for your birth experience and also assist in a quicker recovery. These low impact exercises tone and improve flexibility without stressing the joints in the body

Pre natal yoga classes
Breath, re-energising and relax! Classes are available from week 21 throughout your pregnancy. A wealth of information on visualisation, vocalisation, breathing techniques and helpful hints to prepare you for the magnificent journey towards Birthing and Motherhood. The classes routines are to prepare you mentally, physically and emotionally towards natural Birth. You will gain confidence, learn how to tap into your natural abilities and develop bonding with your unborn baby.
The classes will allow you to experience your pregnancy in a very intimate and comfortable group learning. The journey is conducive to learn how to listen to your body, learn how to relax and nurture you and your baby. Call 42263777 for info on upcoming classes.

Give yourself a break - Silence the mind
Our minds are constantly thinking about the past or what might happen in the future. These thoughts and their associated emotions can interfere in our enjoyment of life and appreciation of what we have available to us now. Uncontrolled thought can lead to feelings of stress and distress. “I can’t switch my mind off” is such a common experience for many people. “Relax” your friends and family may say. The big question is how do I turn off these constant, tiring, unwanted and interfering thoughts. It is a habit that can be modified significantly with meditation.

There are a number of simple meditation techniques that can be learn’t and practiced in a group classes that can result in significant immediate effects. You can learn how to be the observer of yourself and others without judgement & criticism. Find a place within yourself where you will relax, regenerate and be energized.

Meditation is a way to stay centred in the present moment with a clear uncluttered mind. This allows insight into the best way to repond or act on current circumstances for the benefits of yourself and others. It is possible to empty your mind from distracting thoughts and negative emotions. It does take practice however you first must learn how.
