What is Holistic Kinesiology
The following definition of Kinesiology was approved by the Australian Kinesiology Association in 1999:
"“Kinesiology encompasses holistic health disciplines which use the gentle art of muscle monitoring to access information about a person’s well-being. Originating in the 1970′s, it combines Western techniques and Eastern wisdom to promote physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. Kinesiology identifies the elements which inhibit the body’s natural internal energies and accessing the life enhancing potential within the individual.”"
The primary purpose of a kinesiology session is to identify stress and the underlying patterns and to re-balance the body, mind and spirit.
Anyone can benefit from a kinesiology balance. You do not need to have a specific illness or issue. The body can always benefit from some general maintenance.
How Kinesiology can help you
Kinesiology can help all areas of health and wellbeing, here are some examples:- Pain
- Stress
- Anxiety and depression
- Allergies
- Chronic fatigue syndrome
- Insomnia
- Digestive disorders
- Muscular and nervous disorders
- Concentration and memory.
It can also assist with determining blocks in your life that may be preventing you from moving forward, it can bring awareness to the beliefs you have that are not beneficial to you and assist you in changing your perspective, and it can stimulate energies and release untapped potential.
About me
I first stumbled upon Kinesiology about 10 years ago when I suffered with chronic headaches that left me incapacitated for 3-4 days at a time. I suffered these attacks about 6 times a year, and had milder headaches about 50% of the time. The headaches were affecting all aspects of my life.
A family friend gave me the name of a Kinesiologist, who she thought may be able to help. I said that I would give it a try. 3 days after my initial treatment, the headaches stopped, and I continued to see the Kinesiologist for a number of months. I worked with her to address many of the stresses in my life and for the first time in many years, felt fantastic.
Naturally I was very intrigued and decided to find out more about this “Kinesiology.” After moving to Sydney 4 years ago from Ireland, I made the decision to study Kinesiology at one of Australia’s leading colleges, The College of Complimentary Medicine .
Studying Holistic Kinesiology has been the best decision of my life. I have completed the Cert IV in Kinesiology and will complete my Diploma studies in Holistic Kinesiology in June 2011. During the one and a half years so far, I have made massive changes in all aspects of my life. I am a much happier and healthier person. Through kinesiology I have become more aware of how my thoughts and experience affect my health and happiness.
I live and work in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.
