SERVICES
Welcome to White Solace

Emma is a qualified remedial therapist.

What is Massage?

Massage is a systematic manual application of pressure and movement to the soft tissue of the body, the skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia (the membrane surrounding muscles and muscle groups). Massage stimulates the immune system by increasing blood flow and lymph drainage. It improves circulation and relieves congestion in the tissues. It stimulates the production of blood cells and promotes lymph flow which hastens the elimination of cellular wastes. It helps clear muscles of lactic and uric acid that build up during exercise and relaxes muscle hypertonicity as well as relieves muscle tension.

Benefits of Massage?

There are many ways in which the benefits of massage can improve your life. Many people think that the benefits of massage are restricted to relaxation, but there are numerous other health and wellbeing benefits.

Massage is effective in treating;

* Tension headaches
* Back pain
* Muscle tension & joint stiffness
* Cramps
* Tendonitis
* Premenstrual syndrome
* Stress
* Depression/Anxiety
* Sciatica
* Neck & shoulder pain
* Sports assistance
* Swelling & oedema
* Circulation
* Gastrointestinal issues
* Insomnia

One of the best benefits of massage is that it makes you feel GREAT!!!

Getting the most out of your Massage

* Arrive on time for your appointment
* Don't eat a large meal before a massage session
* If you are feeling light headed or dizzy after the massage, do not get off the table too quickly
* Drink extra water after a massage to help flush the toxins

Remember, massage has its greatest benefits over time. The therapeutic effects of massage are cumulative, so the more often a person gets a massage, the better he or she will feel and the more quickly one's body will respond.

Treatments

Sports Massage

A must for the competitive and recreational sports person. Sports massage is the most effective therapy for releasing muscle tension and restoring balance to the musculo-skeletal system. Received regularly this may help athletes to prevent injuries, which might otherwise be caused by overuse. A constant build up of tension in the muscles from regular activity may lead to stresses on joints, ligaments, tendons, as well as the muscles themselves.
Sports massage is useful for anyone with chronic pain, injury or range of motion issues.

These muscle imbalances may develop and often go undiagnosed until they are serious enough to cause the athlete discomfort and impede performance. One of the greatest benefits of sports massage is in helping prevent injury.

Sports massage can help you;

* recover more smoothly from a heavy workout or training session
* train harder for longer and get fitter faster without the usual injury dramas
* reduce annoying muscle pain and other soft tissue injuries during training
* achieve your best results
* extend your athletic career

Remedial/Deep Tissue Massage

Remedial massage helps to restore your energy, focus and vitality by reducing general muscle tightness and fatigue associated with occupational and lifestyle demands. Remedial techniques are used to loosen hardened muscles, increase elasticity of surrounding soft tissue and improve blood and lymph circulation. Remedial massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body, through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, by either following or crossing over the muscle fibres, fascia and tendons. Remedial massage is usually used to address specific problems associated with chronic muscular pain, injury rehabilitations, sporting and occupational injuries and physical and mental fatigue. The techniques can include Trigger Point Therapy, deep tissue massage and stretching thereby creating an improved range of movement through the joints.

Relaxation/Aromatherapy Massage

Relaxation massage eases the day to day stresses of today's fast paced living, muscular and psychological tension and rebalances vital body energies, giving you the chance to let go, relax and enjoy a time of peace and tranquillity. Relaxation techniques used are a smooth and flowing style that promotes general relaxation by improving circulation and relieving muscular tension. You can also incorporate aromatherapy by applying essential oils which are designed to improve physical and emotional well-being.

Pregnancy Massage

During pregnancy a woman's body undergoes many changes, some of them stressful and uncomfortable. Back, shoulder and leg aches and pains can some times be very painful and uncomfortable – massage is a perfect way to reduce stress and promote general well-being.

Benefits of pregnancy massage are;

* tranquil relaxation and reduce stress
* relief from muscle cramps, spasms and myofascial pain, especially in the lower back, neck , hips and legs
* increase in blood and lymph circulation, which can reduce swelling
* reduces stress on weight bearing joints
* improves outcome of labour and eases labour pains
* enhances the pliability of skin and underlying tissues
* provides support for the new mother with physical and emotional strains of mothering
