  • Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been used to increase the body’s physiological efficiency and wellbeing for thousands of years in Asia. This translates to a feeling of vitality and mental clarity. It also strengthens your body’s resilience to stress, illness and injury. It is for these reasons that acupuncture was originally used and is still used by many as preventive medicine.

If you are suffering illness or injury, acupuncture offers a highly effective and safe drug-free alternative to the management and treatment of a wide range of conditions. Consider that traditional Chinese Medicine was the system of medicine in Asia, so it can treat most disorders. Please free free to contact one of our practitioners if you have any questions.

Acupuncture can either used alone or in conjunction with conventional medicine, natural medicines, physiotherapy, psychology or exercise therapy.

Acupuncture needles are very fine, so treatment is not painful. After insertion any needle sensation that you may experience such as tingling or numbness usually disappear, leaving you only with a sense of deep relaxation - no matter what you are being treated for. Acupuncture needles are sterile and are used only once before being disposed of, so there are no risks of cross-infection to you.

Advice on herbal medicines, diet & lifestyle based on the principles of TCM may be also be given during your acupuncture consultation.

    Japanese Acupuncture (Meridian Therapy)

Meridian Therapy is a style of acupuncture that has been developed in Japan over the last thousand years. Based on Classical Chinese texts, Meridian Therapy takes a wholistic approach to patient diagnosis, with the treatment aiming to balance the patient’s meridians by using shallow needling techniques supplemented by moxibustion and massage. The Practitioner’s intent is to enhance the body’s own healing and to strengthen the individual’s constitution by harmonising the meridians of the body to restore health.

    Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine, like acupuncture, takes a wholistic approach to understanding the body’s normal function and disease processes, and focuses as much on the prevention of illness as on the treatment.
A herbal formula that specifically matches and treats your individual health problem is prescribed. As your condition changes and improves with treatment, the herbal formula is also adjusted and modified until the desired health outcome is achieved.

Today, there are hundreds of substances commonly used in herbal medicine—most are of plant origin, though some animal and mineral substances may also be used (vegetarians can be accommodated).

Both traditional chinese herbal medicine and western herbal medicine are availavle at wnm . Traditional Chinese Medicine is often prescribed in conjunction alongside acupuncture, and western herbal medicine is often prescribed alongside nutritional medicine, although a herbal medcine consult can be sought as astand-alone treatment.

    Naturopathy & Nutritional Medicine

Naturopathy uses a variety of natural medicines to support the body’s own innate ability to heal itself. The two main areas of focus in naturopathic treatment are herbal medicine and nutritional medicine, as well as empowerment through education so that healthy lifestyle changes can be made. Naturopathy can address chronic, long-term illness and disease, and also acute conditions such as colds, flu and infections.
Nutritional medicine is the science that links food to health and disease. Our naturopath will tailor a food plan to suit you specifically, as well as providing you with education so you can make informed decisions that will perpetuate long-term change. By using food as medicine and consuming a nutritionally dense and balanced whole-food diet, you will improve digestion, assimilation of nutrients, and ultimately, your health.

    Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a discipline that specialises in the diagnosis, treatment and overall management of disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system, and the effects of these disorders on your general health. The practice of chiropractic primarily focuses on the relationship of the structure of the spine and pelvis to your body's physiology, as coordinated by the nervous system. As the body is self-regulating and self-healing, a well-functioning nervous system allows the cells, tissues and organs of your body to function well and resist disease and illness.
Chiropractic can be used to relieve pain including back pain, neck pain, joint pain of the arms or legs, and headaches. It is also used to improve mobility and posture, as well as affect overall well-being.

    Remedial Massage & Lymphatic Drainage

Remedial massage counters muscle pain and tension which may result from unhealthy workplace practices, poor posture, illnesses, injuries or the accumulative effect of everyday stress. Remedial massage techniques can be deep or shallow, gentle or strong. Specialised techniques are used to locate and repair damage and to facilitate the body's own repair mechanisms.

Massage promotes suppleness of the body, reducing tension (physical and mental), which is the precursor of many modern day ailments. Massage is thus used to alleviate stress, pain and tension, and to actively promote deep relaxation, health and wellbeing. Massage stimulates the body's circulation, optimising the delivery of fresh oxygenated blood to the body and brain, increasing one's sense of vitality and mental clarity. Massage, aromatherapy and lymphatic drainage in particular also aid the elimination of toxins from the body and strengthen the immune system, which makes them invaluable tools of preventive health care.

    Pregnancy Massage

Often the extra weight gain and a shift of the centre of gravity of a woman's body causes the characteristic tension and pain associated with pregnancy. These can be addressed by a combination of relaxation and remedial massage techniques in pregnancy massage which produce the added benefits of reduced swelling of the limbs, soothing the nervous system, and preventing insomnia, muscular cramps and back pain.

A reduction in both labour time and the time to return to optimal fitness is often attributed to having regular massage during pregnancy.

Pregnancy massage provides safe and effective treatment, using different techniques as a woman progresses through the different stages of her pregnancy.

    Infant Massage

Gain skills and confidence with infant massage instruction. Infant massage enhances the bonding between infants and their parents and families. Massage assists the growth, immune function and the development of your baby. It can bring relief to complaints like colic, constipation, respiratory disorders and sleeping difficulties. Touch enhances your expression of love, care and respect, giving your baby a sense of security and trust.
