SERVICES ABOUT ME
Dianne has been teaching yoga for 18 years, it is a passion and a lifestyle. She is dedicated to passing on this timeless healing art to all who are ready and open to learning.
Dianne’s knowledge and experience of yoga, zen shiatsu, meridians, metaphysics, food as medicine and meditation combine harmoniously in her holistic approach to teaching.
Students receive extremely practical and helpful guidance and understanding that yoga is holistic and in healing ourselves on all levels we are creating unconditional freedom and Self empowerment.
In 1988 Dianne received a scholarship to WAAPA where she practiced dance full time for 3 years. The discipline of dance and especially ballet teaches refined body awareness, strong posture for balance and perfection of movement.
After graduating and traveling, she returned home to Sydney and found her love for yoga was becoming a way of life. In 1993 Dianne enrolled in the teaching training yoga apprenticeship for 3 years full time under the guidance of Shandor Remete, who studied directly with BKS Iyengar.
Dianne is certified Reiki level 7 (Usui System of Universal Energy) so when you are receiving adjustments there is no negative transference, just more healing energy of light.
Dianne believes it is important for people to feel safe and comfortable, working at their own level so they can open to the flexibility – body and mind. She conducts the classes in a friendly, casual atmosphere, whilst still holding the sacredness of the space for yoga transformation and healing.
Yoga is an art of healing
Yoga postures, although appearing to be static, are a whole body experience, stimulating and affecting endocrine glands, muscles, nerves, organs and meridians.
In learning and eventually knowing how to hold the postures correctly, we are able to move energy to create a more balanced, healing flow throughout our body. Some common issues to be healed through yoga are back pain, tight hips, the digestive system, colds and flu, stress and muscle tension.
Yoga is non-competitive, each individual works at their own level of flexibility, strength and self development.
Mats and props are available to use by all, please have clean feet and don’t use strong perfumes. It is best not to eat before class, wait at least 4 hours after a meal and 2 hours after a light snack.
Consistency and a positive attitude is the key. Your commitment to do class at least once a week will ensure ongoing awareness, both physical and intuitive, remind you to consciously breathe, relax and enjoy being in your body.
Classes are structured practicing hatha yoga postures with attention to physical alignment, breathe and internal body work.
The principles of working with the meridians (energy channels) are applied during classes to specifically strengthen the organic body, improving the natural cycle of health on all levels.
Yoga is an ancient art and science to create balance and healing, supporting us to move into our full creativity.
Students receive personal guidance within the classes, which are small in number.

Student Reviews:
•"When I first moved to Sydney I started to go to Yoga Light as a way of continuing my casual interest in yoga. Since then, it has become a valued part of my lifestyle, thanks to the approach taken by Dianne at Yoga Light. Leading a busy and at times stressful lifestyle, the classes at Yoga Light have given me a focused experience which challenges and rejuvenates me, at whatever stage I am at in my yoga practice. This is very unique in a city where you can find generic 'yoga' classes performed at any gym space in any suburb. I have not practiced yoga anywhere else and this is testament to the special experience I receive when at Yoga Light. I would encourage anyone who has an interest to take part - these classes cater for everyone from those who practice regularly to those who can only attend casually. You will not be disappointed!

•Yoga, I believe, is all about the teacher. I have followed Dianne from Paddington to her current premises in Randwick, Dianne Black is a wonderful teacher, she is extrememly knowledgeable, the classes are very "hands on", that is, Dianne makes numerous adjustments to students throughout the class, she speaks in a gentle yet focused manner, and the energy in the room is always posiitve and nuturing. The classes are small and run at times to suit the students. In addition to regular classes, Dianne also organises informative and fun seasonal intensive courses and week end retreats.

•Yoga Light has become a permanent fixture in my life, I've come to depend on my weekly class both physically and mentally. I never sleep so tight as after yoga class. It's a wonderful therapy. I have had a couple of good yoga teachers in the past, but they don't measure up to Dianne's method and style, which are truly unique. And I know that no other class would compare after this experience.
