What is Iyengar Yoga?
lyengar Yoga is a form of hatha yoga and can be practised by anyone of any age or ability. lyengar Yoga teaches asanas (yoga postures) that keep the body cleansed and fit. Breath control techniques (pranayama) quieten the mind and bring a sense of peace and stability. Yoga is a total system of health aimed at uniting the mind, body and spirit. The purpose of yoga is to bring about this union where there is balance, inner calmness and stillness.
What are the benefits of Yoga?
Yoga is a powerful antidote to the stresses of daily living. It helps put life into perspective and brings a sense of vitality and tranquillity. When practised regularly, the benefits are many:
A general sense of well-being
Strength and flexibility
Good posture and muscle tone
Increased ability to cope with tension
Mental clarity.
Yoga Classes
Iyengar Yoga is the world's most practised form of yoga. The Yoga Room offers Iyengar Yoga classes suitable for all ages and ability with dedicated, qualified teachers.
If you are new to yoga it's important to start at the beginning to learn the foundations of yoga. We offer Introductory Courses which are targeted specifically for the needs of students with no experience of yoga.
Alternatively, you can attend a beginners casual class. Come to class once or twice a week to ensure a steady progression. When you are familiar with the basic poses, a home practice will assist your progression along the yoga path. The Yoga Room regularly runs a home practice workshop to encourage students to become confident and responsible in their yoga practice.
Most of our classes are 'pay by term' classes where you enrol and pay for 10 weeks. Enrolling in a ten week term is an ideal way to keep your attendance and pogression, consistent. New poses can be introduced and more demanding poses can be practised from the ground up.

. Pay by term classes require that you book and pay before the
