WHY SEE YOUR OSTEOPATH?

Everyone, regardless of age or condition can benefit from seeing Your Osteopath.  These include; babies, children, pregnant women, athletes, injured workers and older adults.

Osteopathy is a professional, valuable, natural and safe treatment option for all which helps to improve quality of life. The primary focus of Osteopathy is the restoration of function. Osteopaths assess and diagnose the problem, then plan and administer treatment programs that aim to restore function or minimise pain after disease or injury.

The osteopathic philosophy states that the body is capable of self healing and maintaining a healthy state if barriers are removed such as structural problems and poor posture. Only when the bones, joints and muscles are working smoothly and harmoniously can the other body systems function efficiently and effectively.

WHY SEE YOUR ACUPUNCTURIST

Your Acupuncturist is one of very few clinics in Brisbane who offers two different styles of Acupuncture - Japanese and Chinese. The use of either style depends on the condition and the preference of the patient; the main difference being the more advanced diagnostic techniques and very superficial needling methods of the Japanese Style. This is almost painless compared to some strong needle techniques used in the TCM (Chinese) style, and is great for those who have a fear of needles.

‘Japanese Acupuncture’ also includes other treatment techniques based on the same treatment principles, but don’t involve the use of any needles. One of these strategies involves the warming of specific areas with 'Moxa.’ This technique is pain free and is extremely beneficial for those patients who are severely fatigued and run down.

Continual research on new treatment strategies and treatable diseases are constantly being studied and implemented into how we treat patients here at Your Acupuncturist .

REMEDIAL MASSAGE

At Your Osteopath, remedial therapy is thought of as a useful part of an integrated treatment system. Remedial therapists work closely with the other members of the health care team in order to provide you with the best possible benefit from treatment.

The treatments are tailored to your requirements and may include a combination of:

Remedial Therapy/Massage
This involves determining details of your site of pain/injury and performing a series of direct, hands-on techniques towards relieving these problems. This is achieved with various muscle testing techniques, massage and stretching. Remedial Massage is also often known as Deep Tissue Massage.

Trigger Point Therapy (TPT)
Used to effectively and quickly release muscle spasm. Many common complaints that occur in specific relationship to muscular dysfunction are easily released with this simple approach. In conjunction with stretching techniques TPT relieves muscle pain, constriction and tenderness very effectively.

Sports Massage
Often used to assist in reducing muscular tension created by large training commitments, excessive stress and workloads. Regarded as a therapy which goes beyond a relaxing therapeutic massage.

Stretching Treatments
Based on MET (Muscle Energy Techniques) and/or PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) stretching techniques. This type of treatment will help you increase flexibility, increase joint range of movement and ease muscle pain.

Treatment times vary from 30 minutes to 1 Hour.
