Diagnosed with SLE at the age of 13, I understand the daily battles that lupus sufferers can go through. Extreme fatigue, joint pains and sore throats, were among the myriad of symptoms interfering with my schooling and previously active life. In my struggle to regain good health, I discovered natural therapies and have never looked back. Now, more than 15 years on since my diagnosis, I am a qualified naturopath and nutritionist, have been medication-free for over ten years, managing my condition with a combination of natural therapies.

Using natural therapies to treat lupus can be highly successful for…

Anger Management

James was a man of ample girth, a big bloke with a headache and neck pain to match. One look at his tongue (very red with a thick phlegmy coat) was enough to tell me he was subject to large doses of anger and irritability. His headaches were pretty well constant and a heavy smoking habit wasn’t exactly making a positive contribution to his health. The first treatment I gave him was straight acupuncture. He walked out free of pain (and with a dumbfounded look on his face). Ten weeks later he came back, saying he’d had no headaches or…

So What Is Hatha Vinyasa Yoga Anyway?

One of the translations for the word ‘yoga’ is ‘union’. If we took it a step further, we could extend that to the total balance of mind, body and spirit. Be brave and take another step forward and maybe you can add your own personal interpretation of what that might mean for you and your current journey in life.

If you were to think back to what may have brought balance to your life 5 maybe even 10 years ago and then fast forward to today, chances are you may have slowed down the pace a bit, but not necessarily…

Matters of the Heart

The most painfully confusing topic in our lives often seems to be in the realm of the heart. No matter who we are, what we know or what we think we know why is it that when it comes to matters of the heart, we are often overwhelmed by confusion? In truth, it is not matters of the heart that is confusing; it is actually matters in the mind that confuses us. Our heart always knows what it wants, to love with abandonment and or to truly be happy. If it was up to our hearts, these intentions would be…

RBTI Analysis

What Is RBTI Analysis? RBTI Analysis is a tool that trained practitioners use to measure the residues and components in samples of urine and saliva. This enables them to see where your body is out of balance and how to design a program to help you achieve optimal health. Ream’s Biological Theory of Ionization has been used in clinical practice for over 50 years and has helped many thousands of people. It is named after Carey Reams the scientist who through extensive laboratory testing and mathematics came up with what he called the formula for perfect health.

A similar system…

Aromatherapy

Essential oils have been used to treat ailments since the time of ancient Greeks and Romans. The term Aromatherapy to describe the use of these distillates was coined in 1930 by the French chemist Gattefose. Aromatherapy utilises powerful constituents distilled from many different plants. These distillates have formed the basis for many pharmaceuticals and skincare products today. Unfortunately most products now contain so little of these precious essentials the effect is lost amongst artificial ingredients and harsh chemicals. Sometimes they are substituted completely for chemicals with a similar fragrance. These do not have any beneficial effect.

Some people are suspicious…

Not a stroke of bad luck after all...!! There are many times in life when what seems to be a case of severe adversity in actual point of fact has that proverbial silver lining! Although just one of many such real-life stories Urban Sundvall HypnoAnalyst & Psychotherapist thought you might like it.

It started many years ago when I was working as a chef. Much as I loved cooking, the enormous industry stress factor had always been a problem for me. Over the years my inability to cope with stress was getting continuously worse. Eventually, to the point where one…

If you observe newborn babies and young children, you realise that human beings are not born with judgments; rather we are born open, receptive, accepting and loving. A newborn baby or small child is present in the moment and is naturally in a state of love, gratitude, peace and joy. They have an amazing sense of wonder and awe which you can see in their eyes. They are so clear of obstructions in the mind that they seem to literally emanate light. This is why they are so attractive and unique.

So, what happens to us as we go…
