What we value in life really determines and dictates how far we will go and what we will accomplish in our magnificent lifetime on planet earth. We are all different for a reason, and thus we all have different values and value systems in place. For instance; if you enjoy the thrill of different adventures whether simple or exhilarating; then chances are one of your highest values is for traveling - whether travelling overseas and/or around Australia. And if you are a great saver and you also invest your money; one of your highest values would definitely be on wealth, financial freedom and financial independence, and on your overall financial situation.
How do we determine our values in life you may ask - I am intrigued - how do I find this out? Justine is so glad at this time that your unconscious mind is pulling a trigger in asking yourself such quality questions to you right now. The quality of the questions you ask yourself clearly determines the quality of your life and its various outcomes. Firstly you need to ask yourself “How do I spend my time?” For me personally the first thing Justine does to start her empowering days is that she walks around the bay near her home and practices yoga and meditation on a daily basis; then she works on her business and travels; so clearly you can sense that Justine’s business, Justine’s health and Justine’s travels are her strongest values in her hierarchy of values. Furthermore her partner, her family and her friends weren’t even mentioned straightaway, so chances are these elements of Justine’s abundant life are much lower on her values than her business and her health are for instance. There was a period quite recently when Justine wanted to go house hunting, and somehow interstate travel got in the way on weekends when open houses were scheduled. It is simply a no brainer in this instance that travel was much higher on Justine’s values than the home and real estate front was.
Furthermore, as you are reading a spiritual related article right now; this would easily imply that the element of spirituality is pretty high up on your values hierarchy, and perhaps your health and wellbeing as well; and even your own personal development. Really have some fun with this. Take some quiet time out for yourself and really, really reflect on this. One of Justine’s coaching clients got a little frustrated indicating that he currently works 50 hours a week in a high paying yet intense position, yet he says he does not value his employment. In response to this statement; Justine implied to him that possibly his finances are high up on his hierarchy of values as he is spending the majority of his time working in a high paying job. As a result of this exercise it turned out that his finances are much higher on his hierarchy of values than he realised; and this client of Justine’s is starting to save a set percentage of his income every week before he repays his debts and meets his other financial obligations, and furthermore as a result of this he can initially spend a lot less time in the rat-race, and to thus ultimately pursue his dream of exiting the rat race for good real soon; all from one powerful little exercise through his abundance and prosperity coach. And furthermore, as a result his values have significantly changed for the better while he spends more time with his loved one’s, and as a healer being part of his transformation is very, very empowering to say the least.
Justine appreciates that sometimes our values cannot be valued as we spend more time at work than anywhere else; however Justine wishes to emphasise that this question ideally and equally applies to what you do in your spare time outside of work; so for instance if you go to personal development seminars a lot you value your mental structures, study and your further education; whereas on the other hand if you are spending a lot of your ‘outside of work’ time with your friends, then your social life is very high up on your hierarchy of values.
Secondly, you need to ask yourself “How do I fill my space?’ Granted your personal space includes your home; your bedroom at home as well as your work space at work; so for instance, if you have a bamboo plant sitting on your office bench would usually imply that you value nature, and even spirituality as bamboo plants can be quite spiritual. Again please take some time out to work on this; Justine gives you permission to do so…so you become clear and liberated throughout this process. Even your CD and MP3 collection tells you a lot about yourself when you really dig deep on this. For instance, if Robert Kiyosaki dominates your CD or MP3 collection; then chances are you highly value wealth, business and/or real estate, and if you have a lot of meditation CD’s then again chances are that spirituality is high up on your values hierarchy.
Remember: your hierarchy of values dictates your destiny. You may ask yourself in response to this “How do I shift my values?” Bingo - a great quality question. It is all about taking some time out - however you choose to do this according to what comes up on your hierarchy of values for you! Let’s face it…all of us love to relax, unwind and possibly meditate! What a golden opportunity for instance…to move your finances higher up your hierarchy of values when say for instance you believe that you spend way too much time with your friends and you are drowning in debt and thus want to clear this - remember any powerful shifts and changes we make in our life have to be done mentally - on the mental plane first and foremost before such changes can manifest itself into our physical existence…what you focus on is what you get…absolutely the law of attraction and manifestation is at work now…even on your values!
