Why do people start smoking cigarettes? And why is it difficult for many people to stop?

Quitting Smoking through Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Hypnosis

In Neuro Linguistic Programming, otherwise known as NLP, emphasises that within the first seven years of a person’s existence on planet earth our personalities are formed; of which is then verified later through tests and indicators such as Myers-Briggs; needless to say an individual can control and amend their personality through NLP. This then leads to the modeling phase and ultimately the socialisation period begins - the integral time of our lives between the ages of 7-14 where we want to fit into social situations, and be part of the ‘in’ crowd at parties and other social settings including school.

Addiction is…

You’re about to clean out a packet of biscuits, eat a block of chocolate or drink a glass (or bottle) of wine. What’s going on? You were feeling fine a minute ago right so what’s changed? Where has this urge come from and why is it so hard to resist?

This is a problem that effects…

When referring to addictions, we automatically picture ' adults' partaking in an activity that either involves smoking, drinking, injecting, eating or gambling. It is quite rare for people to associate ' children' as young as 7 with addictions......but this scenario is very common. The type of addictions that I am constantly having to work with among children are playstation addiction, computer and television addiction, soft drink addiction and chocolate addiction.

In my treatment of addiction, I view this behaviour as defensive behaviour in which an addiction is used to ' zone out' of a situation or to ' numb emotions'.…
