Dyslexia is a learning disorder that affects a person’s reading ability. They may have difficulty in remembering, recognizing, and/or reversing letters, numbers and words. People with dyslexia have normal vision and normal intelligence. Some signs of dyslexia include a reading level below that expected of the age level, an inability to recognize written words and letters, and difficulty understanding instructions, following more than one command at a time, and remembering sequences. Treatment options include developmental, corrective or remedial treatment, movement-based therapies such as brain gym and educational kinesiology, tinted lenses, auditory therapies, and nutritional supplements.
