Gonorrhoea

Gonorrhoea is a sexually transmitted bacterial infection caused by the bacterium Neisseria Gonorrhoeae. Approximately half of women and thirty percent of men do not show symptoms. However, if present, symptoms in men may include painful urination, a discharge that is first slimy and of a limited quantity before becoming more substantial, a burning sensation, and inflammation of the testicles and prostate gland if left untreated. In women, symptoms may include painful urination, discharge, abdominal pain, fever, and inflammation in the sexual organs that may lead to the closure of the fallopian tubes (pelvic inflammatory disease). Gonorrhoea may also cause throat infections. The treatment is antibiotics.
