Nosebleeds

Nosebleeds are also known as epistaxis and are the relatively common occurrence of bleeding from the nose. Causes include dryness inside the nose, picking the nose, injuries, colds, allergies, high altitudes, some medications, artherosclerosis, infections, high blood pressure, and blood clotting disorders. Treatment includes leaning slightly forward while squeezing the soft portion of the nose for at least five minutes or until the bleeding stops. If the bleeding lasts for longer than fifteen minutes, medical attention should be sought. Using an antibiotic ointment for several days and leaving the nose alone is another option. Homoeopathy and herbal medicine may also help.
