Squints

A squint is when a child’s eyes do not look in exactly the same direction. It is also known as strabismus. The three most common types of squints are convergent squints (eye gazes inward), divergent squints (eye gazes outward), and vertical squints where the eye goes up or down. They are caused by a difficulty in focusing. Treatment may include glasses to correct the underlying visual problem, patching the normal eye so that the weak eye must be used, surgery in some cases, and visual therapy.
