SERVICES

Scott believes strongly in the self healing abilities of the body and uses acupuncture, craniosacral therapy, acupressure, flower essences, homeopathy, and nutritional and life-style changes to stimulate the self healing process.

Over the last six years Scott has trained extensively in craniosacral therapy and has incorporated it into his remedial therapy treatments. With his experienced hands and his background in acupressure and chinese massage, Scott tailors his treatments to the individual needs of the client. A treatment could consist of either acupuncture, the light touch of craniosacral therapy, the firmness of acupressure and chinese massage or any combination of these.

The naturopathic remedies Scott uses to supplement his treatments are flower essences and homeopathic remedies. He uses flower essences to help transform negative mental and emotional patterns and homeopathic remedies to support the immune system and to aid healing.

Scott has been practising as an Acupuncturist and Naturopath in Melbourne for 20 years. Over the last six years Scott has focused on the treatment of painful conditions and he enjoys the challenge of treating people with chronic pain.

Scott has been practising in the Kew and North Balwyn area for 20 years.

ACUPUNCTURE

The scientific evidence continues to mount on the efficacy of acupuncture on a myriad of complaints. There is no need to tell the Chinese who have been practising and refining Acupuncture for over 2000 years. In China today Traditional Chinese Medicine is on a par with modern Western medicine and the Chinese people choose which type of treatment they want for their various ailments.

The theory of acupuncture is that the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body stimulates the flow of qi or energy. The points occur on meridians or channels that flow through the body and connect to the vital organs. A skilled acupuncturist can diagnose subtle imbalances within the organ system and take action to re-balance it.

Scott Brisbane is an experienced and sensitive acupuncturist who works intuitively to help your vital energy or qi to flow freely allowing healing to occur. He has many years experience lecturing in acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine at various colleges in Melbourne.

Acupuncture has been shown to be successful in helping a wide range of conditions including:

Chronic back pain and injuries
Neck and shoulder problems
Headaches and migraines
Depression and emotional problems
Nervous disorders and anxiety
Stress and fatigue
Infertility and IVF assistance
Digestive disorders

CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, light touch technique used to release pain, tension and restrictions in the body. The focus of the work is on the craniosacral system which includes the bones of the face, skull, spine and sacrum as well the fluid and membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. The practitioner can work on the craniosacral system through your clothing on any part of the body.

The practitioner tunes into the subtle rhythms and movements of the body and allows the body to unwind and "tell it's story". Craniosacral therapy has been descibed as psychotherapy for the body. It is ideal for releasing past trauma and freeing up the mental, emotional and physical restrictions caused by such trauma.

Although everyone experiences craniosacral therapy differently it is usually a very relaxing experience. It is very gentle and extremely effective. People often report a strong sense of wellbeing after a session.

Craniosacral therapy can be used in a range of disorders including:

Migraines and Headache
Chronic Neck and Back Pain
Stress and tension
Traumatic Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ)
Emotional Difficulties

Scott has trained extensively in craniosacral therapy and has assisted in the teaching of craniosacral therapy to other practitioners.
