Detoxification
The human body is a bio accumulator. This means that toxins within it that cannot be immediately expelled are stored within the cells. These toxins accumulate and can block circulation and cellular energy — often resulting in physical pain and disease.
When toxins such as mercury, carbon dioxide, pesticides or food additives meet large water molecules in the body, water clusters encapsulate them and they are stored, often in fatty tissue. For infrared (FIR) heat produces a wave that vibrates the ion bonds of the atoms holding these molecules of water together. As the agitation continues, breakdown of the water molecules occurs, and encapsulated toxins are released and perspired out of the body via the skin — the human body’s most direct and largest excretory system. Elimination of toxins via the skin reduces burden on internal organs that often become overloaded during other methods of detoxification and cause uncomfortable symptoms. Because Sunlight’s FIR heat therapy operates more effectively (ie. the body actually sweats more), at temperatures 60 to 80% lower than conventional saunas, the detoxification is from 7 to 10 times greater.
FIR heat therapy assists the body to detoxify toxins such as mercury, lead, cadmium and aluminium; arsenic, formaldehyde, pesticides, agent orange, industrial chemicals and gasoline, uric acid, sulphuric acid, sodium, cholesterol, ammonia, alcohol, nicotine and other drugs. In one study performed by American researchers, the sweat of people using a conventional sauna was found to be 95 - 97% water, while the sweat of people using an infrared thermal system was 80—85% water - with the non-water component containing many of the toxins listed above.
Pain Management
Heat has been shown to reduce pain sensation by direct action on both free-nerve endings in tissue and on peripheral nerves. Studies show that FIR heat therapy is an effective treatment for chronic pain, arthritis and fibromyalgia, and that it assists in the treatment of rheumatoid joint conditions, spinal cord shock, muscle spasms, sports injuries and repetitive stress syndromes.
Weight Loss
The passive cardiovascular conditioning of FIR heat therapy increases heart rate, metabolism3 and caloric burn.4 It is documented that FIR heat lowers blood sugar, cholesterol and triglyceride levels; and, that during one thirty minute FIR sauna treatment, blood flow doubles and up to 300 calories are expended.
Skin Purification
Heat therapy increases blood flow throughout the body and to the skin. Sunlight’s saunas offer a head to toe skin treatment - opening pores and allowing blockages to clear everywhere on the body. Increased skin purification can greatly assist in the treatment of conditions such as psoriasis, eczema and scarring. In fact, studies have shown that FIR sauna use can assist with reduction of cellulite, acne and fine wrinkles after consistent use over time.
Blood Pressure and Heart Disease
In a recent study using Sunlight Saunas® Solocarbon technology, the University of Missouri, Kansas City, observed a decrease in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure measurements also LDL - bad cholesterol.9 Other studies also report that FIR heat therapy can assist to regulate both high and low blood pressure conditions and increase blood vessel dilation.
Stress Relief
FIR heat therapy has a relaxing effect on the body’s motor, neurological and circulatory systems that become overworked during times of stress. Also, studies show increased energy levels in chronic fatigue patients during and after FIR sauna therapy.
