Welcome to YogaCalm

YogaCalm specialises in hatha and restorative yoga for students of all ages, levels of fitness and experience - including unfit beginners. Classes focus upon learning to attune respectfully to your body's capacities with techniques of breath awareness, grounding, centring, alignment and relaxation. Cultivating breath awareness during movement and stillness is the basis for practicing yoga with ease and gradual unfoldment of strength, flexibility and poise.

The broad range of YogaCalm classes enable you to vary your yoga practice. Your body's rhythms and needs change constantly, yet in our schedule-driven culture we rarely have the luxury of listening to our own needs. You could come to a Restorative class when feeling stressed or unwell, or when menstruating, as a break from your usual class. Dynamic classes provide a stronger workout, balanced with gentle integrating poses and relaxation at the close of the class.

The YogaCalm Studio is fully equipped with non-slip mats and yoga aids and supports that encourage safe, easy practice within your own capabilities.

Class sizes are small, providing an ideal environment to learn and refine yoga practice.

Jen Jacobs

Jen Jacobs has a passion for teaching yoga arising from her love of her own personal practice of yoga and meditation, which have sustained her through thick and thin for the last 30 years of her adult life. Jen found yoga to be invaluable for maintaining vitality and fitness during her pregnancies, and would revive with yoga and meditation whilst babies and toddlers slept.

Since training with the Yoga Teachers Institute of South Australia 8 years ago, Jen has taught hatha yoga to classes, individuals and workplaces. Jen has particular interest in restorative yoga and its application to times of low vitality, be they part of our normal rhythms, crisis or stress induced. In our fast paced go-for-it-now culture, Jen believes yoga is a joyful way to experience an inner sanctuary of deep rest, support, refreshment and renewal each day.



Yoga

Hatha Yoga
Hatha Yoga is for students of all ages, levels of fitness and experience - including unfit beginners. Breathing practices are integrated with balanced sequences of postures. Relaxation practices such as Yoga Nidra ensure that students complete each class feeling revitalised and refreshed.

Restorative Yoga
This gentle form of Yoga facilitates deep rest and release into a full range of poses using bolsters, blankets and other supports. Restorative Yoga is of great benefit during life transitions including menopause, grieving times, pregnancy, recovery from illness or surgery, and is the only yoga recommended during menstruation. Your body enjoys the benefits of stretching, opening, growing strength and flexibility whilst learning to breath deeply and relax.

Remedial Yoga
Remedial Yoga draws upon both Hatha and Restorative Yoga to create personal programs which gradually build strength and flexibility whilst promoting deep rest, healing and wellness. Remedial Yoga may significantly ease chronic pain, sore joints, depression, anxiety, chronic fatigue, diabetes, respiratory and cardiovascular conditions.

Workplace Yoga
Workplace yoga classes can be specifically designed to suit your group's needs - providing opportunities to strengthen tired muscles, improve posture and release stress. Yoga enhances mental clarity and physical vitality which translates into increased productivity and morale.
