Q: What is Remedial Massage?
A: Remedial massage is a holistic treatment. It’s a treatment for the whole body as well as the area being treated. Remedial Massage is designed to alleviate chronic pain, injury and painful or disease related conditions. Home exercises can be given.
At initial consultation your therapist will ask you questions about your lifestyle, i.e. about your job, hobbies, your eating and drinking habits, your age, medical history etc. This information combined with a full examination will help your remedial massage therapist with the application of your treatment.
Remedial massage therapist is an expert in fields such as Swedish massage, Hot and cold therapies etc. Your therapist will apply greater pressure to the deeper layers of muscle with his/her fingers, thumbs or elbows to release chronic patterns of muscle tension.

SWEDISH (RELAXATION) MASSAGE
Q: What is Swedish Massage?
A: The term "Swedish Massage" refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart.
Swedish massage was developed in the 1700's by a Swedish doctor named Per Henrik Ling.

A: The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles.
