Who can benefit from Massage?
Everyone! Massage can help you achieve all the above things. Your massage session will be tailored specifically for you, taking into account your past and current health, your level of fitness, your lifestyle and your desired outcome.

The benefits of massage:
Studies show that massage performed on a healthy person increases muscle flexibility and relaxation. It has a positive affect on the immune system and reduces emotional stress and anxiety levels. It can give recipients a sense of wellbeing and relaxation and can assist with sleep.

Massage is effective in reducing and managing pain and has a positive affect on circulation. Massage can improve tissue health and can assist in lowering blood pressure. By improving lymphatic flow, massage can reduce swelling and the pain associated with this. Massage assists in reducing the formation of scar tissue and aids in the recovery from soft tissue injury.

Massage can relax the muscles, decrease spasms, improve resting length of muscles, improve joint range of motion and reduce trigger points, fibrosis and adhesions.

Massage is non addictive and makes you feel great!

What is Remedial Massage?
The focus if remedial massage is to fix or manage a particular problem, for example an injury, postural dysfunction or recurring tension headaches. You may suffer from tight or strained muscles after sport or you may have a labour intensive job and want to maintain good physical fitness and prevent injury.

In a remedial session, the therapist will strategically and clinically asses the client. This usually involves a thorough discussion of the client’s lifestyle, job and hobbies. It may include a postural assessment, observation of body movement and palpation of the soft tissue. The goal of assessment is to find the underlying cause of the dysfunction which may not always be where the client experiences symptoms such as pain or tension, but exist in other areas of the body.

Once the assessment is done and has been discussed with the client, the therapist will treat areas of the body causing or contributing to the dysfunction, using a variety of techniques, pressure, stretches and aftercare advice. The pressure and technique used is appropriate to the dysfunction, within the tolerance of the client and will assist in achieving a desired outcome.

What is Sports Massage?
The goal of sports massage is to either prepare the muscles for activity, or to help them recover from activity.
Pre event massage assists in injury prevention and optimises the athlete’s performance. It stimulates, oxygenates and warms the key muscles making them more pliable and relaxed but in a state of readiness. Tight muscles are also relaxed so as to increase joint range of motion. Pre event massage is most useful when performed 15-45mins before activity commences.

Post event massage helps the muscles recover from the activity. It encourages good circulation of both blood and lymph and can help reduce post activity muscle soreness, swelling and stiffness. Studies have found that receiving massage in the first two hours after activity can be critical for reducing the effect of delayed onset muscle soreness.

What is Therapeutic/Relaxation Massage?
Technically all forms of massage are therapeutic! Usually called Relaxation Massage because that is usually how the client feels after treatment, there is more to a Relaxation Massage then just… well, relaxation. Read the Benefits of Massage section to understand the full story. You may not have any muscle soreness or any particular areas of concern, but that does not mean you won’t get any benefits from regular massage. Prevention is always better then cure, and this is where therapeutic massage comes in. Together you and your therapist will decide the areas of the body to be massaged, based on the specific benefits that the client would like to achieve.

What is Corporate Massage?
Corporate massage involves the massage therapist coming into the work place and either massaging employees at their desk or in a designated room or space. The Massage can be seated or lying on the massage table. Usually the massage is performed through the clothes using techniques that help to relive stress and tension. Studies have shown that massage in the work place makes your employees more alert and can improve productivity.

What is Mobile Massage?
Mobile massage involves the therapist coming to the client’s home or workplace to provide the desired treatment. The therapist will bring a portable massage table and all other equipment required. Great for people who do not drive, are very busy or just want to jump into bed afterwards!

What is a Gift Certificate?
Purchased in advance, a massage gift certificate is a great gift for anyone and everyone and for any occasion.

About Kate:
Kate began her career as an Event Manager, with some of her greatest achievements being the EM for the Mt Buller World Cup Aerial Skiing, and being involved in the Australian Corporate Games. After achieving her goal of running an international event fairly early in her career, Kate decided that the long hours and time away from friends and family were not for her.

Having played netball to a representative level and a variety of other sports during secondary school, Kate has always used Massage to assist with injury treatment and prevention. She has always had an interest in Natural Therapies and it was only natural that she explored this area further.

After completing a Diploma of Remedial Massage, Kate worked for a number of mobile companies, events and clinics before deciding to run her own massage business, which is what she does today. Kate has a particular interest in sports injury rehabilitation, having been through the process herself with an ACL(knee) reconstruction.
