My name is Angela Counsel and I am a Naturopath and Nutritionist specialising in Women's and Children's health issues.
I have a Bachelor of Health Science and a Bachelor of Business. I also attended Nature Care College where I graduated with an Adv. Dip. Of Naturopathy and received the annual “Clinical Excellence in Naturopathy” award. In addition I have completed a Diploma of Nutrition and a Certificate IV of Remedial Massage as well as courses in Iridology, Reflexology, Sports Nutrition and Exercise Physiology.

My Clinic
I practice in The Ambaa Tree Natural Health Clinic which is located on the Ground Floor of Building 7, 49 Frenchs Forest Rd, Frenchs Forest. There is plenty of parking available.
My Healing Philosophy
As a Naturopath, I utilise the healing power of nature and the body’s innate ability to heal itself to resolve illness. Chronic illness is often a result of biomechanical or metabolic imbalances caused by prolonged exposure to stress – this stress may take the form of poor nutrition, exposure to chemicals or electromagnetic radiation, lack of exercise or high levels of mental or emotional stress.
I will discuss with you how you can reduce the effects of stress, the most appropriate diet and lifestyle choices for you and select the therapies and treatments that will improve your feeling of wellness. Treatments may include herbal medicine, nutritional supplements, dietary changes and lifestyle advice or bodywork therapies.
Specialising in Women's and Children's Health
Both women and children have their own particular health concerns. I am particularly interested in helping women resolve their hormonal imbalances, to maximise their fertility and to help them have healthy and happy babies.
Most women think that it is "normal" to have pain, discomfort and mood changes every month. They live with this because all of their friends have the same types of experiences, this is not "normal". By managing your stress levels, supporting your nervous system and re-balancing your hormones it is possible to have a monthly cycle which is free of negative symptoms.
Many children are born with an imbalance in their immune systems resulting in conditions such as asthma, eczema, food allergies/sensitivities and behavioural disorders. Using child friendly nutritional and herbal supplements it possible to resolve some of the most common conditions of childhood.
Your initial consultation
At your first visit I will take a detailed history of your current symptoms, your current and past health issues and complete a full body system review. Often what you take for granted as part of life can be improved.
Apart from taking your case history I may use some diagnostic aids to give me a better understanding of your health. Some of these tests include:
- Live Blood Screening (HemaView)
- iridology,
- urine analysis
- heavy metal testing
- body composition analysis
- zinc testing
- vitamin C level testing
- urine pH levels
- digestive health testing
All of the above are included in your initial consultation fee.
The reason for such an in-depth review of your health is to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms.
Your first consultation will take about 1.5 hours so that I can fully investigate your health history and to design the most appropriate treatment program for you. Follow up consultations take approximately 30, these consultations review your progress and modify your treatment program if required.
Live Blood Screening (Hemaview)
Live Blood screening is a tool that I use to to give me an understanding of your real state of health.
Using only one or two drops of your blood, I use Hemaview to investigate the size, shape and ratios of the red cells, white cells and platelets in your blood. You may have had blood tests before, but nothing compares to seeing your own blood live on a screen in front of you.
You will receive a customised report of the key features in your blood. This includes photos of our blood, information on the importance of these features for your health, and recommendations to improve your health status. Best of all you can keep a record of your progress and see how your blood picture improves over time.
Hemaview is based on the medical science of Hematology. It provides an accurate and immediate indication of the state of your general health. Hemaview can help me assess you for the following factors:
- Poor nutrition
- Immune system health
- Oxidative stress and free radical damage
- Inflammation
- Liver health.
Hemaview is suitable for everyone, including children, pregnant and lactating women.
Your Treatment Program
Everyone is different, your symptoms and health issues are particular to you so your treatment plan will be specific to you. When you visit other health professionals they might give you a medication to take, this will address the immediate symptoms but because it hasn’t addressed the underlying cause of the symptoms they can return at a later time. Or you have to take the medication for the rest of your life to manage the symptoms.
I want you to feel better. I want your body to be experiencing a level of wellness that you currently don’t feel. To do this I will formulate a treatment program that is specific to you, and is what your body requires now. These treatment programs can include any or all of the following:
Herbal Medicine
Nutritional Supplements
Dietary advice and guidelines
Lifestyle advice
Massage therapy
Referral to another health provider
Length of Treatment Program
The length of your treatment plan is individual to you and your condition. You should notice some changes within a few days of starting your treatment program. On your first visit I will discuss with you how long I think that it will take for you to start feeling better, but this will be dependent on how many health issues that you have that need to be addressed, how closely you follow the treatment program and how well your body adjusts to the changes that are required.
Some people will feel better right away and want to stop the treatment program, it is important that you continue with the program because we are addressing the underlying cause not just the symptoms. While the symptoms may have improved, if the cause is not corrected the symptoms will return at a later time when your body is stressed again.
Your investment in your health
Your initial investment in your health will cost you $120 for your initial 1.5 hour consultation and any follow up consultations will cost you $45 for a 30 minute consultation. A 30 minute Hemaview consultation will cost $75. Private Health Fund rebates maybe applicable to cover consultation costs.
You may also have some extra expenses for herbs, nutritional supplements or massage therapy depending on your treatment program. I will discuss your expected outlay with you at your first visit.
