When natural health care is important.

Pre conception care
Emma can help you reach optimal health before trying to conceive. It is advantageous for couples who have had difficulty conceiving and also those who want to address underlying health concerns prior to conception.

Fertility
Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can help correct the root cause of infertility, especially when it is unexplained. Emma provides a comprehensive approach to male and female infertility which often includes Acupuncture, Herbal medicine, nutrition and lifestyle recommendations, individualised to your needs.

Emma is also experienced in using Chinese Medicine in preparation for IVF, ICSI and IUI. She also provides Acupuncture treatment pre and post embryo transfer. Emma continues to see the benefits of Chinese Medicine for infertility and offers safe treatment options during what can be a an emotional and uncertain time

Early pregnancy care
Emma offers individualized care programs from the date a positive pregnancy test is received. This approach can be followed on from IVF or natural fertility and is especially suited for women who have had previous miscarriage, pregnancy loss or those who are in a high risk category. Treatment with Emma reduces anxiety and stress and helps prevent miscarriage up until your 20 week ultrasound if necessary.

Treatment during pregnancy
TCM is a safe and effective treatment for many pregnancy related conditions. Emma has found it particularly useful for reducing morning sickness, carpal tunnel , fatigue, turning breech babies and labour induction.

Pre birth treatment from about 36 weeks, can also help you prepare physically, mentally and emotionally for the birth of your baby.

Emma provides a nurturing environment for mums to be, and works closely with GP's and midwives throughout your pregnancy.

Treatment for children
TCM is suitable for children as young as a few months old. They usually respond very quickly and only require a small number of treatments. Emma has been trained in a variety of gentle pediatric techniques (with or without needles) and she also prescribes pediatric formulas for home use.

Emma' s practice is especially family friendly, and treatment often involves toys and games to make coming to the clinic an enjoyable experience.

Some answers to frequently asked questions
    What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?
Traditional Chinese Medicine is a holistic system of health care that is comprised of Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Massage, cupping, moxabustion and dietary therapy. It works by diagnosing and rectifying patterns of imbalance and disease, which is why it can make sense of often bewildering symptoms.

TCM addresses the underlying causes for your health condition, as well as providing relief from symptoms. In this way, TCM is effective in the treatment as well as the prevention of many acute and chronic health conditions.

    Is TCM safe?
Yes. Only single use pre sterilized acupuncture needles are used, and all herbal products comply to guidelines set by the Therapeutic Goods Administration. (TGA)

    Is Acupuncture suitable during pregnancy?
Yes. Acupuncture is an effective drug free treatment for pregnancy related conditions such as back pain, carpal tunnel, oedema and morning sickness. It is well known for turning breech babies.

    Is Acupuncture painful?
Not usually. You may feel a slight sensation when the needle is inserted, or you may feel nothing at all. Many people report feeling a dullness or warmth around the needle site and often experience deep relaxation during the treatment.

What does a TCM treatment involve?
An initial consultation lasts for approximately 1 1/2 hours and follow ups are 1 hour. (Children are usually quicker) Emma will need to ask you a series of questions including your past/current medical history, current medications and duration, nature and location of your illness. A tongue and pulse analysis are also part of the diagnostic process, as it's a good indicator of whats going on inside your body. Treatment usually involves a combination of Acupuncture, Herbs and massage, which are tailored to your individual needs.

Emma is dedicated to providing professional and accessible health care for people of all ages and all health concerns. Emma also works with local GP' s and/or other health care providers to ensure that you receive the care you need with referrals when necessary.
