Michael Linden - Soft Tissue Therapist
Since completing his Remedial Massage course, Michael has gone on to work as the Soft Tissue Therapist for the South African Cricket team and for the Scottish Commonwealth Games team. Michael is now teaching Anatomy and Soft Tissue Techniques to Remedial Massage students at RMIT. He is also the Soft Tissue Therapist and a club sponsor for Nunawading Triathlon Club, as well as being an active member of the club.
Michael specialises in sporting injuries and treats athletes from a variety of sporting backgrounds, including triathletes, tennis players and footballers, as well as patients with chronic injuries and general aches and pains.
Remedial Massage works by seeking out restriction, tension, scar tissue and trigger points (knots) in muscles, then by using hands-on massage techniques and joint mobilization, restoring muscles to a healthy, normal state. “The reason Massage Therapy is so effective”, claims Michael, “is that 80% of all injuries are soft tissue injuries, which Remedial Massage Therapists specialise in treating.” Remedial Massage can also be effective in treating joint pain, for example, if a person has knee pain, treating the muscles that cross the knee joint will take pressure off the joint and can decrease pain and symptoms.
Remedial Massage Therapists study a two year Health Science Diploma focusing on areas of Pathology, Biomechanics, Anatomy and Postural Assessment, but, most significantly, the course has a large emphasis on developing hands-on soft tissue techniques.
Michael is currently working at Bayswater Chiropractic Centre located at 625 Mountain Hwy, Bayswater. Michael works at the clinic on Tuesdays and Fridays from 4pm until 7.30pm and on Mondays from 9am-1pm.
