WHAT IS REMEDIAL MASSAGE?
Remedial Massage is a common form of manual soft tissue therapy often utilised to help the body manage pain, correct postural & biomechanical dysfunctions, recover from injury, increase flexibility and break down scar tissue. Employing initial orthopaedic strength, range of motion and postural testing and a combination of techniques such as deep tissue massage, muscle energy technique, positional release, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, muscle shifting, myofascial cupping & myofascial dry needling, it also incorporates stretching & strengthening exercises when needed. Remedial Massage is claimable with many private health funds.
WHAT IS MYOFASCIAL CUPPING?
Myofascial cupping is a soft tissue technique using a small flame to form a vacuum within special glass cups and is combined with massage or used separately to redistribute energy and increase circulation to the local area. Working over trigger points or areas of tension within muscles, this process helps to speed up relaxation, break down scar tissue, and to reduce the presence of tension & adhesions. Cupping can also be used to manage cold/flu and chest congestion. Used statically, cupping can be relatively pain free and highly suitable for people with low pain thresholds.
WHAT IS MYOFASCIAL DRY NEEDLING (MDN)?
MDN is a safe form of treatment for common musculoskeletal conditions and chronic myofascial pain. Through the use of acupuncture needles via Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS), an inflammation response is produced in common trigger points or areas of muscle shortening, to quickly and effectively reduce pain. Proper stretching after a MDN session is advised to reduce the feeling of delayed onset muscle soreness and to maintain the lengthened muscle position. Super sharp needles are used on first timers or those with needle phobias to ensure a nearly pain free experience.
HOW DOES MASSAGE ASSIST WITH OTHER THERAPIES?
Whether you’re getting adjustments to correct spinal & joint misalignments, undergoing a specific rehabilitation program to recover from injury, or experiencing jaw problems, massage can assist to improve the effectiveness of these treatments. Remedial massage techniques are used to help retrain muscles to enable the body to retain the new positions in which it has been placed. As a result, you may find your adjustments last longer, therefore requiring fewer visits. If combining therapies, we recommend you time your adjustments and massages, for preferably the same day or no longer than 2 days, apart to achieve more effective and longer lasting results.
