Make Moving to health your life practice You'll be glad you did.

Many members of the medical profession are beginning to recognise and prescribe for their patients a marvel of modern medicine - exercise.

Studies consistently show that people who keep physically active, live longer and have reduced rates of many serious health conditions such as Arthritis, Diabetes, Heart disease, Depression & Respiratory problems. At Moving to health our aim is to inspire and motivate people to make positive lifestyle changes resulting in better physical and emotional health. We have a class to suit your health goals, your ability and your personality.

TAI CHI is an ancient Chinese activity designed to exercise body, mind and spirit. Tai chi is practised for its therapeutic benefits which include reducing stress, promoting balance, co - ordination and flexibility, and relieving arthritis pain. The gentle flowing movements are tailor made for easing sore joints and muscles. They use the whole body and are performed slowly with concentration on breathing and inner stillness. Tai Chi increases muscle strength and promotes harmony by improving the flow of internal energy
(chi) throughout the body, to enhance your sense of well being.

YOGA GENTLE is a holistic approach to well being which unites your body, mind and spirit. The practice co - ordinates breath, gentle movement and poses to strengthen, stretch & relax all parts of the body. Yoga gentle enables us to become aware of the tension and stress in our body and muscles, so we can mindfully let it go. The yoga activity is followed by meditation to reduce mental stress and cultivate a quiet, peaceful mind. Joan Newbould believes that yoga is suitable for people of all fitness levels and all abilities, ages, sizes and shapes.

PILATES is a mind / body experience suitable for all ages and fitness levels. The gentle exercises condition the 'core stabilising' muscles to improve posture to prevent injury and stabilising' muscles to improve posture to prevent injury and allow painless freedom of movement. To train their body to move more efficiently , participants focus on an isolation movement which is repeated in a precise manner. Pilates increases strength, balance, flexibility and mobility and promotes lean, toned muscles for a stronger body.

An easy movers class is the right mix of gentle aerobic exercise, together with light resistance training and core strengthening movements. Resistance training helps prevent osteoporosis and increase bone mineral density. Aerobic activity enhances mental vigour, improves reaction time & accuracy, increases memory and self esteem. Easy exercise movement helps reduce the stiffness and loss of balance and co-ordination that usually accompanies ageing.

POSTURE BALL training requires continual, small corrections of the core muscles of the spine and abdominals while sitting or lying on a large unstable ball. Lower back problems cause more chronic pain than any other health condition. The instability of the Posture Ball stimulates the sensory reflexes to improve balance, help tighten the abdominal muscles and activate the postural muscles of the back.

HEART MOVES is a gentle low to moderate intensity exercise program approved by the heart foundation as suitable for people who have a stable heart disease, diabetes or other stable chronic condition. It helps increase bone & muscle strength and aids pain management for chronic conditions like arthritis. Exercise increases your body's sensitivity to insulin, improves cholesterol levels, and decreases body fat.

REMEDIAL MASSAGE relieves muscular pain, restricted joint movement, tightness and spasm by manipulating the tissue, enhancing blood flow, and increasing oxygen and nutrients to the area.

SPORTS MASSAGE helps to maintain muscles in the best possible state of health, flexibility and vitality, hastening recovery and enabling them to function at maximum.

SWEDISH MASSAGE reduces stress and anxiety through relaxation of body & mind, it enhances well being and body awareness.
