TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE
Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine are the main modalities of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), which is a holistic medical system that has been practiced for thousands of years. TCM aims at treating the person along with the disease. This means that the practitioner looks at the patient as a whole and finds the imbalances that are causing the illness. As part of your TCM treatment, you will have a comprehensive consultation including medical history, a signs and symptoms analysis, and a pulse and tongue diagnosis.
ACUPUNCTURE
Treatment by acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine needles into a few carefully selected acupuncture points on the body to regulate, rebalance, restore and unblock the natural movement of vital energies in the meridians, collaterals, organs and tissues. Modern scientific research has shown that acupuncture can also produce anesthesia for the relief of acute and chronic pain, without the adverse side effects of pharmaceuticals. Other conditions that can be effectively treated by acupuncture are listed below.
CHINESE HERBAL MEDICINE
After your consultation, a specific herbal formula which contains individual herbs will be prescribed. Herbal medicines are available as dried raw herbs from which you prepare your own herbal teas, or more conveniently as granules, capsules or concentrated pills.
