What Is Kinesiology?
Kinesiology is a complementary therapy that uses gentle muscle testing derived from chiropractic techniques together with the Eastern philosophy of balancing ‘chi ‘-the life force energy within your body. We are more than just the physical body and kinesiology is unique in that it not only works on the physical (structural and biochemical) level but also incorporates the emotional, mental and spiritual levels of an individual to promote self healing.
Where Western Medicine integrates with Complementary Medicine
My background extends to over 15 years in Medical Research. As a scientist I have extensive knowledge and understanding in the molecular mechanisms and pharmacology of stroke, wound healing, asthma, eye disease, hearing loss, depression, schizophrenia and neuropathic pain.
Historically, Western medicine and complementary medicine have existed in a dichotomous relationship and as such a common question I am asked: Isn’t there a conflict of interest between the two worlds of Western medicine and kinesiology? I personally believe there is exists a place for both allopathic treatment (focusing on the symptoms) and kinesiology (holistic view focusing on the cause) and I am able to draw upon my extensive knowledge of scientific research (left brain activation) to facilitate the kinesiology (right brain activation) sessions.
Health is represented as an internal and external self-regulating dynamic balance of mind, body and soul, whereas disease is represented as a departure from this homeostasis. Healing is the return to homeostasis aided by the body’s natural self-regulating healing abilities.
My role as a kinesiologist is to provide a personalized session to facilitate your own healing journey. This is achieved by centering your healing process at the integrated level of mind, body and soul, providing insight and understanding of your human biology at all its levels.
