About Me
I am a Chiropractor who utilises current research literature to provide the best treatment and care for my patients. I work closely with the wider healthcare community and I provide individualized treatment based on health status, history and other factors. I have a keen interest in sport as well as men's health and rehabilitation. I have trained at an elite sporting level in Taekwondo and understand the passion and motivation of sport that all athletes share, whether that be at a social, intermediate or professional level.
The scope of Chiropractic care extends far wider than to just "cracking" the spine. It is beneficial in the treatment of extremity conditions and other sporting injuries as well as lower back pain, neck/shoulder pain and headaches. Chiropractic care also utilizes many other therapies and modalities in addition to manipulation. As such my treatment has a strong emphasis on Soft Tissue Therapy (Massage) and Dry Needling with gentle Manipulation, but also includes Low Force Techniques, Mobilisation, Rehabilitation and Training Programs and Nutritional Advice.
My community involvement includes work with:
Interplast Australia, "a charity that provides teams of medical volunteers to undertake programs of plastic and reconstructive surgery and training in neighbouring Asian Pacific Countries", www.interplast.com.au
Sacred Heart Mission Medical Clinic, a charity that looks to "fulfil the physical, social, emotional and spiritual requirements of those most in need by providing a diverse range of creative and responsive services", www.sacredheartmission.org
StVincent's Hospital Community Advisory Committee, which looks to "provide direction and leadership in relation to the integration of consumer, carer and community views into all levels of health service operations, planning and policy development." http://www.svhm.org.au
In my spare time I enjoy keeping fit through running, weight training, boxing as well as playing mixed netball. Other interests include traveling, film and technology.
What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic (derived from the Greek "cheir" + "praktikos") meaning "done by hand" is defined by the World Health Organisation as "a health care profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on general health. There is a general emphasis on manual techniques including joint adjustment and/or manipulation with a particular focus on spinal joint dysfunction."
How can Chiropractic Help?
Chiropractors specialise in the detection, correction and prevention of spinal joint dysfunctions. Chiropractors correct this problem by applying a very specific and gentle force, called a spinal adjustment or manipulation, to the spine to improve the normal position and motion of the vertebra being treated. This helps to improve blood and nerve flow around the involved area to assist with the healing process and to modulate the bodies pain pathway's within that region. Chiropractic care is not just limited to adjustments of the spine. It can be beneficial in treating a range of musculoskeletal disorders and utilises the use of other manual modalities such as soft tissue therapy, dry needling, mobilisation, stretching, as well as rehabilitation exercises, dietary and lifestyle modifications.

Stretching tips
Stretch all the major muscle groups and joints you routinely use at work and when exercising.
Stretch when ever you exercise, but if you can't exercise stretching 3 times a week can help maintain flexibility.
Hold the stretch for 30 seconds per muscle.
Avoid holding your breath, try to breath slowly and calmy. Also avoid any bouncing during the stretch as this can lead to muscle tears.
Tips for a better posture
Stretch those muscles that have become tight and strengthen those that are weakened.
Perform exercises specific to the area requiring attention as research shows that exercises specific to the neck and shoulders can reduce the development and perpetuation of neck pain.
Modify your workstation, research shows wrist and forearm support can reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders of the upper extremity and neck.
Avoid prolonged stationary periods by taking short breaks and stretching.
Manage and reduce job stress and strain.
Claims and Payments
The clinic has HICAPS which is an electronic, claims and payments system, offering members of participating health funds, the convenience of automatic claims processing, on the spot in the practice. Meaning your health insurance claim is processed on the spot and leaving on the gap to be paid.
The clinic is also a preferred provider with Medibank "Members' Choice" and HBA "Members First", meaning extra benefits and higher rebates for members with the corresponding extras cover.
