YOGA FOR PREGNANCY AND BIRTH
The type of exercises suitable for pregnancy must be non-strenuous, neither straining nor tiring.
They should save energy and release tension; reduce a woman's heartbeat and breathing rate and always be asisted by gravity rather than resisted by it.
Yoga stretching fits all these demands.
Through the various stretches a woman gently, gradually, and powerfully encourages her joints and muscles to give up their habitual stiffness.
Yoga stretching regularly during pregnancy directs a woman's attention to her body.
This subtly changes her feeling of her physical self.
It doesn't make her self-conscious.
What it does is increase her self-awareness.
All the benefits of practising stretching, that is, improved suppleness,
posture, relaxation, breathing, circulation, and energy are especially desirable during this vital time.
Yoga practice during pregnancy can be used to......
Strengthen the pelvis
Develop breath awareness and control
Boost energy and lessen fatigue
Enhance strength and confidence
Improve posture,balance,flexibility
Promote relaxation
Alleviate triedness,nausea,backpain,anxiety,heartburn
Prepare for a natural childbirth
Ensure a speedy recovery after birth
