Life is full of ups and downs sometimes children allow certain memories to have so much power over them, it begins to affect their physical and emotional well being.
I endeavour to work with, and along side children who at some point in their life have encountered difficulties and need some assistance to reach their full potential.
While working with children I like to work with variety of resources and materials like play-dough, clay, textas, crayons, reading books, sand play and journals
ABOUT ME
I have always worked with children, having completed my cert.3 and ADV cert. (now equivalent of DIP in Child Care) in child care 1992.
Working in Child Care Centres for a number of years before starting a family.
I have three children, one of whom has a physical disability, and twins. From having my children to now, I have worked with a number of special needs children, including Down syndrome, autistic and asbergers syndrome.
My ongoing professional development is centred on children and adolescents.
I have an interest in diet and how this effects children as two of my children have coeliac disease and an allergy to salicylates.
For my nutritional and supplemental advice for children I consult with Andrew Lazootin, ND, of Glenelg Blood Morphology and Naturopathic Centre. He has a diploma of nutrition and a Bachelor of Health Science.
I am currently studying Social Science; something I believe will compliment every thing to date. I also have a special interest in gifted children with learning difficulties.
This is an area that is often overlooked and can be very traumatic for all involved.
Currently I am learning about EFT, which is exciting and all very new to me. EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. It is quite simply acupuncture with out the needles.
It is a matter of tapping on specific meridians on the body. I have been practicing on my children with some quite amazing results.
I am also in the process of starting up a book club for children in the Glenelg area. I will let you know more about the details when we have organized times and dates with the bookshop.
My wonderful children are also due to have some Motivational Cards for children published in the very near future, (something I look forward to being able to use). Having decided to donate a certain percentage to the Bone Growth Foundation (as it is a bone growth disorder that my son has) to assist in further research and development.
