SERVICES Welcome to Camden Osteopathic Clinic
At Camden Osteopathic Clinic our team of highly qualified practitioners aim to provide you with quality professional healthcare, to achieve the best possible outcome for you and your family. We aim to understand and treat the cause(s) of your condition, rather than just the symptoms. Once the underlying cause has been identified, an appropriate course of treatment is then devised to help relieve, prevent and/or manage your underlying condition. All of our practitioners are fully qualified members of their respective professional associations. They regularly collaborate on cases to ensure you are provided with the best possible treatment for your individual needs.
What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a "whole body" system of manual therapy, aimed at restoring an individual’s natural ability to heal, by using a combination of biomechanical correction, lifestyle improvements, and healthy nutrition. Osteopathic treatment is most commonly sought for musculo-skeletal problems such as:
- back and neck pain
- sciatica
- headaches/migraines
- joint pain
- postural and/or mobility problems
- sports-related injuries
- motor vehicle accident related injuries
- repetitive strain/workplace related injuries
What does a standard osteopathic treatment involve?
Usually consists of a combination of techniques aimed at facilitating the body's ability to heal itself. They include (but are not limited to):
- soft tissue massage
- stretching
- joint mobilsation/manipulation
- exercise prescription
Your Osteopath may also provide advice on diet, posture and lifestyle in an attempt to fix a problem and prevent its recurrence.
What is Traditional Chinese medicine?
Traditional Chinese Medicine is a complete system of medicine that combines the use of acupuncture, Chinese herbs, food therapy, acupressure, and massage.
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. This science and art of healing has become widely accepted over the past three decades. It has now been established as a profession in Australia and has proved to be safe and effective.
Acupuncture is a form of natural healing which has the following major benefits:
• Drug-free pain relief
• Assists prevention against disease
• Treats the cause as well as the symptoms
• Effectively treats many common ailments
How can it help me?
With acute conditions, relief can often be immediate and quite contrary to notions that TCM is always slow to show results. It is also an effectiveve form of preventative medicine because of its ability to detect and treat energy imbalances before they lead to disease. Because TCM does not cover the symptoms only but treats the causes of problems then often the symptoms are not relieved instantaneously as with painkillers and such pharmaceutical medications. Progress can often seem imperceptible, particularly with chronic conditions, but gradual and permanent relief of symptoms and their causes can be achieved with the cooperation of the patient.
