YOUR CHOICE IN HEALTHCARE
SERVICES
Epichealth is about choice in healthcare, with an emphasis on HEALTH, WELLBEING and high quality CARE
A Brief History
Chronic Illnesses contribute to 60% of the global burden of disease, which by the year 2020 will increase to 80%. In order to address this need governments and healthcare organisations in developed countries have initiated programmes aimed at shifting the focus of health care from acute illness to chronic illness and preventative healthcare.
The trend towards integrative medicine can be seen at all levels, from the global spread of traditional and complementary medicine to the increasing regulation of complementary-medicine practitioners and products, the ever-expanding evidence base for various complementary therapies, and the growing awareness that the practice of healthcare must encompass a shift towards more compassionate and collaborative care.
Our Mission
Promote the optimal health and wellbeing of our clients by using both conventional and complementary therapies, in an integrated healthcare environment where individual clients and health professionals work together as partners in health.
Epichealth is the result of extensive research into what health consumers want.
Conventional Medicine
Conventional Medicine has traditionally been concerned with preventing disease and treating the symptoms. There is within conventional medicine growing recognition that the mind - body connection plays an important role in promoting health and preventing illness.
Complementary Medicine
Complementary and alternative medicine, as defined by the National Centre for Complementary Medicine Research is “a group of diverse medical and health care systems, practices, and products that are not presently considered to be part of conventional medicine.”
The Cochrane Collaboration describes Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) as “a broad domain of healing resources that encompasses all health systems, modalities, and practices and their accompanying theories and beliefs, other than those intrinsic to the politically dominant health system of a particular society or culture in a given historical period”
Intergrated Health
Integrated healthcare draws from conventional and complementary therapies to facilitate healing and to empower the patient. The WHO (World Health Organisation refers to integrative healthcare as “The patient and the practitioner are partners in the development of a care plan for issues that cover the psycho-social dimensions of life and not only the somatic disease.”
Epichealth brings together a team of forward thinking health professionals to enable your total healthcare needs to be met.
