REFLEXOLOGY...WHAT IS IT?
Reflexology is an extremely gentle and relaxing therapy that uses precision thumb and finger techniques on reflex points in the feet and hands that correspond to the parts of the body, to relieve pain & congestion and bring about homeostasis (balance) for the client by facilitating the free flow of energy (including improved circulation and nerve innovation) throughout the body.
Reflexology works very simply. It relieves stress and tension, promotes relaxation and facilitates wellbeing.
Reflexology is a gentle holistic therapy based on the ancient principle that there are reflex areas in the hands and feet that correspond to all of the organs, glands and parts of the body.
Reflexology facilitates your own body's ability to actually heal itself.
Reflexology is not just a foot massage. Ensure that your reflexology treatment is conducted by a professionally trained practitioner who is also a professional member of the RAoA (Reflexology Association of Australia Ltd).
WHO CAN HAVE REFLEXOLOGY?
Anyone. Reflexology is beneficial for all ages. Illness and dis-ease are addressed at the source, rather than by symptom. Treatments are normally an hour, and for children half an hour.
Please note that an initial consultation will take approximately 15 minutes longer, for examination of the feet and discussion of medical history and existing/ previous conditions.
Reflexology is safe, gentle and extremely relaxing.
Reflexology has assisted the following conditions:
~ Reproductive Disorders eg Fertility, Menopause, PMS, PCOS
~ Endocrine Disorders eg CFS, Hormonal Problems
~ Nervous Disorders eg epilepsy, insomnia, migraine
~ Respiratory Disorders eg asthma, hayfever, sinusitis
~ Cardiovascular Disorders eg anaemia, hypertension, hypotension
~ Skeletal Disorders eg arthritis, bunion, gout, whiplash

~ Sensory Disorders eg acne, eczema, psoriasis, lupus
~ Digestive Disorders eg Chron's Disease, Ulcer
~ Urinary Disorders eg Nephritis, Bed Wetting
~ Other eg Fatigue, Cold & or Sweaty, Fainting, Fever, General wellbeing
As a precautionary note, DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a contraindication to reflexology and permission must be sought from a medical doctor prior to treatment by a reflexologist.
PREGNANCY REFLEXOLOGY
The pregnant body undergoes a myriad of changes to cater for the growing foetus. Every system is affected; so it's important for the health of an expectant mother and for the health of the baby, that steps are taken to ensure everything is kept in balance.
Pregnancy is a time when you need to be nurtured and cherished.
Reflexology can help with pregnancy-related conditions including nausea, backache, constipation, poor circulation, swollen ankles (oedema), symphysis pubis discomfort, high or low blood pressure, fatigue, headaches, anxiety and other pregnancy issues.
Hand reflexology is particularly beneficial for carpal tunnel syndrome during pregnancy.
Treatments are espcially useful towards the end of pregnancy in preparation for birth. Overdue dates and stalled labour can prove to be anxious times. By relaxing mother and baby, and by stimulating particular reflexes, labour often continues naturally.
"Research has also shown that women who have regular reflexology treatments during pregnancy have far shorter labours than those who don't" (Reflexology Association of Australia Ltd).

TESTIMONIALS
We have been visiting Rachael for about 6 months and cannot speak highly enough about our experience. Rachael is extremely professional and at the same time has created a warm and comforting environment where you can truly relax. The treatment is wonderful – an hour long foot massage in which we quite often drift off to asleep, while at the same time always leave with new and interesting facts about reflexology, our own bodies and ways that we can help ourselves. We would highly recommend Rachael for the ultimate in reflexology. ~ Juliet & Alex, East Burwood
Dear Rachael, I just wanted to let you know how fantastic I think Reflexology is ! I am certainly no stranger to body therapies, having tried various types of massage, rolfing, myotherapy, chiropractic and accupuncture, in an effort to 'feel well'. None of these has had the impact of my first session with you. I returned home tingling all over and that 'buzz' lasted for hours. I am impressed... ~ Kay, Balwyn
Rachael's positive energy and holistic approach to therapy result in treatments which are not just therapeutically beneficial, but are also a wonderfully relaxing and revitalising "time out". I thoroughly enjoy and value my treatments, as much for Rachael's compassionate and sincere personality as for her effective and intrinsic reflexology abilities. ~ Melissa, Ashburton
I had the fortunate experience of being treated by Rachael some time ago. Her expertise and the experience she showed through the whole treatment was second to none. I would have no hesitation recommending her for anyone seeking a Professional alternative therapy treatment. ~ Wayne, Port Melbourne
I have had the pleasure of having sessions with Rachael over the years and I have found them to be very valuable indeed. Her approach is both caring and professional and I felt deeply relaxed and energized. I am very happy to recommend her to anyone looking for healing on any level. ~ Jenny Kovess, Jenny's Natural Healing and Counselling.
I had never had reflexology before and when I was fortunate to have a treatment by Rachael I was in total awe of how relaxing it was. In fact the first few times I fell asleep while she did her magic on me. I highly recommend the treatment but I truly recommend Rachael as your therapist. ~ Sonia, Doncaster.
I look forward to my sessions with Rachael after a hectic weeks of running around. She has a way of relaxing ones body and mind to the point of pure bliss. One leaves her premises feeling totally relaxed, peaceful and wonderful. I, for one, wish each session would never end. I highly recommend Rachael...she's a very caring, compassionate and understanding human being and practitioner, allowing one to completely feel at ease. ~ Vicky, Camberwell
