SERVICES
I am a fully qualified teacher of the Alexander Technique, currently teaching in private practice and on the training course of the School for F. M Alexander Studies. I am committed to sharing the principles of the technique in the most effective and accessible way - shaping each session around the needs, interests and learning styles of each individual I work with. My teaching studio is situated in the beautiful grounds of the Abbotsford Convent – an extraordinary arts and cultural precinct only 4km from the CBD.

Who can benefit?
• anyone who is interested in enhancing their wellbeing and preventing musculo-skeletal pain or injury.
• People managing conditions such as chronic pain, repetitive strain injury,
Parkinson’s disease, asthma, arthritis
• Performers and athletes seeking to enhance their performance

The process of learning the Alexander Technique empowers you to discover for yourself, that you have an innate capacity to find balance and strength while in motion. Often we are told to sit up straight and to watch our posture, but in trying to maintain this, you are adding an extra layer of unnecessary tension, rather than making the most of the inbuilt support you already have.
An Alexander Technique teacher is highly skilled in suggesting new movement patterns, using verbal, visual and gentle manual guidance.

What to expect in a lesson…..

Individual lessons are 50 minutes. Comfortable clothes are recommended. Lessons revolve around your needs and interests. For example – if you find working on a computer painful or uncomfortable, then we might spend part of a session actually exploring this activity. You may choose to explore everyday movement like - sitting , walking, running, speaking or lifting heavy objects, doing a yoga posture or playing a musical instrument etc .

Historical background
The technique has been developed over the last 100 years and is now taught in many countries, in institutions and private practice. Alexander was originally from Australia, and devoted his life to developing his technique through observation and practical application. There is now a growing body of medical and scientific research that supports the principles discovered by F.M Alexander and the benefits of lessons.
