SERVICES ABOUT THE ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE
The Alexander Technique is a sophisticated form of body learning, which enables us to become aware of how we use our bodies in any activity.
We can free ourselves from habitual patterns of tension that can interfere with our natural poise and ease of movement. The Technique focuses on the principle that ‘ how we use our bodies affects the way we function’.
People have Alexander Technique lessons for a variety of reasons. An increasingly large number of people come with physical ailments including, neuro-muscular or joint problems, back pain, stiff necks, and postural or breathing problems. Others come simply because having Alexander Technique lessons makes them feel and move better. Some, such as actors, musicians and performing artists come in search of greater freedom and poise in their chosen profession.
Virtually anybody can benefit from the Alexander Technique because knowing how to maintain our body’s natural equilibrium can free us from unnecessary tension and create a greater sense of well-being.
ABOUT PAUL
Paul qualified as a fully certified Alexander Technique Teacher in 1991.
He is a member of the Australian Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique and, as such, has undergone a 3-year full-time, training programme.
Since then, he has practised the Alexander Technique in a number of health clinics and, for many years, maintained a busy practice in Macquarie St, Sydney.
Over the years, Paul has taught the Alexander Technique to people from all walks of life; from young children to the elderly, and while the reason people come for lessons varies, what is common with all, is the principle that ‘how we use our bodies affect the way we function’. Paul believes that using the Alexander Technique in one’s daily activities allows our bodies to function in a more natural way, therefore enhancing our well-being.
Benefits of each session are remedial and educational.
For example, if the client is suffering from a back complaint, not only would the Alexander Technique be used to help alleviate the condition but, through a learning process, the client acquires the ability to prevent recurrences of the problem.
The Alexander Technique is a safe and gentle process that has been taught for over 100 years.
