I have found that people choose to come to therapy for a variety of reasons, and are often at different growth stages in their life. Usually, something has happened to warrant a change or shift.
Sometimes, a person may be able to identify an unresolved relationship, work, or family issue. Often though, it is purely the need to seek urgent relief from feelings that seem 'overwhelming' or at times, 'out of control' ....... It is here, that one finds themselves seeking the help of a therapist.
MY EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
I am a psychologist and psychotherapist-specializing in depression and relationships. My professional experience across a diversity of settings, and with many different people, has strongly influenced the depth and quality of my psychotherapeutic work.
Having over 10 years experience in a range of organizations, I've worked with many different people including young adults at University, through to ageing adults and their carers. I have considerable experience working in specialized settings, helping people with complex emotional issues.

APPROACH TO THERAPEUTIC TREATMENT:
My approach to therapy is guided by a humanistic perspective; compassion, acceptance and genuiness are my core values. I use a Psychodynamic Interpersonal approach in therapy, drawing largely from Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Experiential techniques, Existential and Buddhist perspectives, as well as Creative/Art Therapies if suitable.
My style of working with people is collaborative and creative; my purpose being to help individuals to develop greater self awareness, and life skills to build successful relationships. I value ethical practice and strive to ensure that your experience is both rewarding and enriching.

Finding the right therapist can take time- Your GP is often a good place to start as Medicare rebates are now available.
If you are eligible, your GP or psychiatrist can refer you for psychological services under a Mental Heathcare Plan.
