SERVICES
What is Myotherapy?

Myotherapy (muscular therapy) is the assessment of muscular injury and dysfunction, the application of various physical modalities to treat pain and the rehabilitation of the soft tissue. Myotherapy is applied in the rehabilitative, corrective and preventative phases of therapy to restore and maintain the normal integrity of the soft tissue structures (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia). The aim of Myotherapy is to treat the cause as well as the symptoms of a wide range of conditions.

Myotherapy is different to remedial massage in that there is more training involved and it combines more advanced soft tissue techniques, stretching, cupping and needling. Basically the treatment is more specific to your ailment.

How can Myotherapy help me?

Myotherapy can help if you suffer from:

• Muscle or joint pain
• Headaches
• TMJ dysfunction (jaw pain)
• Low back pain/ sciatica
• Neck pain
• Postural problems
• Sporting injuries
• Stress related tension

What types of techniques are used?

Myotherapy uses specific soft tissue techniques such as deep tissue massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, dry needling (using sterile acupuncture needles), cupping, stretching and heat therapies. Rehabilitation of the injury or condition can be enhanced through exercise and/or stretching prescription and corrective advice.
