mamashanti mother peace yoga is a Melbourne-based school dedicated to bringing the joy of yoga to pregnant women and their partners. Nina Isabella, founder of mamashanti teaches prenatal yoga, is a childbirth educator, birth attendant, and passionate advocate for reclaiming womens trust in their innate wisdom to birth and raise their children consciously.
With regular practice you will come to experience the way yoga awakens with in each of us our unique and infinite capacity for unconditional love, compassion, creativity and joy. Qualities we need through life, especially as we take our early steps on the gloriously winding path of parenthood. mamashanti has a range of classes and styles to suit you and your changing needs:

These prenatal yoga classes draw upon the rich tradition of the restorative model of yoga. As a highly modified form of yoga, these classes are not about what you can't do, but all about all that you can do to:
Relieve back pain
Manage anxiety
Improve your breathing and digestion
Encourage optimal fetal positioning in preparation for childbirth
Create a real sense of joy in your own capabilities!
All this comes together to make the connection to yoga very relevant to modern pregnancy and parenting!

Prenatal Yoga for Partners
These classes offer a wonderful opportunity to practice prenatal yoga with your partner, mum, best friend, or birth assistant. Learn with your partner the many ways yoga stretches and breathing practices will assist to bring you comfort during pregnancy and prepare you for childbirth. These classes focus on the yogic techniques that contribute to active labour and birth.
Suitable for first-time parents or as excellent refresher classes, these classes are held in a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of time for individual attention. These classes are incredibly popular and I'm very glad to be able to offer them each fortnight. Come to one or book in for two or three to gain real benefit from practicing some wonderful yoga for active childbirth.

Private Yoga Sessions
For Prenatal Yoga/ Prenatal Yoga for Partners and Postnatal Yoga are available by booking with Nina. These sessions are terrific whether you are ~
New to yoga and would like to come to understand more fully the benefits of practicing yoga for pregnancy and childbirth
An established yoga practitioner, these sessions offer the opportunity to deepen your practice and appreciate the subtleties of a more pregnancy focused approach to your yoga
With babe in arms, these sessions can include your baby, and will look at how you can make yoga a meaningful part of your journey through early motherhood
These sessions will last around one and a half to two hours and will be followed up with your own notes to help you continue your practice at home.

BIRTH SUPPORT
mamashanti's birth support (also known as doula) is a unique service that has grown out of Nina's work teaching prenatal yoga. Nina can provide you with essential emotional and physical support through out the duration of your labour. A birth attendant compliments your birthing team by offering continuity of support to you wherever you choose to birth, be it in your home, maternity hospital or birthing centre.
By engaging Nina as your birth attendant, you will be gifting yourself with the support of a compassionate, knowledgeable, experienced woman by your side supporting and honouring your journey through childbirth into parenthood.
