SERVICES

I specialise in Pain Source Release® massage. It is a gentle massage that uses a combination of myofascial release, trigger point, remedial, deep tissue, craniosacral therapy and reiki. Stretching combined with gentle pressure allows your body to unwind at its own pace. As it is so gentle, it can be used for acute as well as chronic pain. Even though gentle is emphasized here, the treatment does penetrate as deep as it needs to.

This treatment activates your body awareness and stimulates your healing response. Posture holding patterns are addressed. This allows your body to move more freely so you don't have to use as much energy to do the everyday things. More energy left to do what you want to do.

This may take a few treatments - just think of how long you have been mistreating your body and how long it has taken to get to where you are now. Start giving your body a new lease of life now.

This can help in the treatment of many problems such as:
  • Back and hip pain
  • Neck and shoulder pain
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Headaches (including migraine)
  • Carpal tunnel and overuse injuries
  • Stress and tension
  • Muscle and sports injuries
  • Sore feet such as that caused by plantar fasciitis
  • Stiff & painful scar tissue
  • Faster recovery from surgery &
  • Trauma to name a few.

I have written some information that might help you to understand how massage, in particular pain source release® and myofascial release can help you.

    Connective Tissue Anatomy

Our body floats in water. Men's bodies are 60% water and womens 50%. There are spaces in between organs, bones, muscles that are filled with a watery goo called ground substance. It is a liquid type of connective tissue. This ground substance acts as a hydraulic system within the body. Protecting us from the stresses we put on our bodies every day. Movement keeps the ground substance runny so that it can easily allow structures to glide over each other. It is the oil that keeps your body running smoothly.

It has different densities in different locations in your body. Muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments and organs are all surrounded by this fluid. It forms the bed for lymph, blood vessels and nerves and is the medium through which transfer of nutrients and toxins occur.

All structures in the body have an outer layer or skin to keep them separate but still in contact with their neighbour. This skin is called connective tissue. It is continuous throughout your body. From top to toe. A change in one area has an effect on the whole body, as densities reajust to keep you balanced. It keeps everything in its right place. When you move, your internal organs, including muscles and connective tissue are being constantly stretched and touched This creates energy which heats up your body and helps to keep the ground substance from clogging the system.

Connective tissue has the ability to chemically bond with itself and other structures to make itself stronger in the areas where you are putting strain on your body. Life stress posture habits develop causing connective tissue to thicken. Movement, which is needed to keep the connective tissue oily becomes more difficult as muscles which are designed to glide over one another become stuck together. The longer this goes on, the stronger the bonds become until it becomes a part of your structure.

Lines of tension develop throughout your body, arranging themselves depending on the way you use it. The tension is 3 dimensional as tightness or bonds go deeper and deeper.

Pain Source Release® massage introduces more tension wherever it is needed. In doing so your body creates energy which creates heat. Given time, your body will recognise its tension and try to self-correct. Pain Source Release® massage allows this self-correction to take place by working with the body's movements and tension areas. You may feel immediate releif or it may take a number of treatments as we work through the layers of tension. Every body is different and comes with their own history of life experiences and how they responded and adapted to them. Pain is your body's way of telling you that something is happening that shouldn't be OR something is not happening that should be. This is a great way to discover your body again - experience movement and feel the new freedom. It is a journey and you don't know what you can achieve until you try.
