Shiatsu Therapy is a Japanese form of body work therapy. The word Shiatsu literally translates as finger pressure, although therapists will also use their palms, forearms, knees and feet. Shiatsu therapy involves applying pressure along the meridians harmonising energy flow and stimulating the body's innate ability to heal itself. The client stays fully clothed and lies on a futon which is on the floor. Shiatsu therapists aim to normalise the flow of Ki (energy) in the body by applying pressure to obstructed or weak areas. This relieves symptoms and helps to resolve conditions improving the client's strength and vitality. Shiatsu is good for relieving pain, tension and stress, chronic fatigue, headaches & migraines, shoulders, neck and back pain, and balancing body and mind, just to name a few.
Shirodhara is one of the most relaxing therapies available. 'Shiro' means head and 'dhara' means stream, therefore, shirodhara is the continuous flow of oil over the head and scalp. Lying on your back on a massage table while warm oil flows in a continuous rhythmic stream across your forehead, your mind is lulled into a state of serenity and expanded consciousness. Oil stroking the third eye has a reflex balancing effect on the deepest recesses of your brain. Profoundly relaxing, the nervous system unwinds, the master endocrine organs the pituitary and pineal glands are balanced and pleasure neurotransmitters such as serotonin flood your cells.

This form of treatment is good for relieving eyestrain, insomnia, headaches and migraine, relaxing muscles and tones facial muscles. Hot Stone Massage - by placing the hot stones on the body and arranging them along the energy centres of the body, a healing process occurs. The deep penetrating heat of the volcanic basalt stone is combined with traditional massage techniques to release your muscular tension, headache, neck shoulder and lower back pain as well as balancing the mind and spirit. The heat of the massage stones warms the skin, which allows for the absorption of moisturizing and therapeutic oils, while simultaneously preparing the body so the massage therapist can work into the deeper muscle layers. Some of the benefits of this form of massage include the increased local circulation, improved blood flow and an ability to achieve a deeper relaxation, harmonising your energy.
