SERVICES
It is an outstanding series of flowing muscle moves that correct many body disorders. It improves the body's vital balance and posture by moving on soft tissues such as muscles, tendons and ligaments. It empowers the body's natural healing forces, allowing a free flow of energy around the spine, extremities and internal organs.

Your treatment session immediately starts to release tension in the muscles and nerves. Some moves are gentle while others require more pressure. You will feel the practitioner's thumbs and fingers moving muscles and other soft tissues back into their normal state.

The average treatment takes between twenty and thirty minuets. The first visit however, will take longer because of the need for a thorough assessment of your posture and relevant muscle groups.

Although you may initially feel an improvement taking place, the full effect of the treatment will take many days to work. Your pain may now just be a memory. A couple of follow up visits is all that is necessary to stabilise the initial corrections. Long-standing postural defects however will require many more visits.

The following are just a few of the bodily disorders that have responded well to Myopractic:

  • Back & neck injuries
  • limb strains & pain
  • Fatigue
  • Nervous stress
  • Digestive problems
  • Respiratory difficulties
  • Menstrual disorders
  • Postural imbalances
This therapy can be used on the tough, big and strong as well as being safe and gentle on newborn babies, the frail and elderly.

History

It all started with Tom Bowen who created this ingenious approach to bodywork. He proved his methods in a busy clinic treating up to 100 clients daily in Geelong, Victoria. Tom Bowen lived from 1916 to 1982 devoting his life to the sick and injured. Local medical doctors developed a great respect for Tom. He was in great demand from all kinds of sporting clubs and even inmates of the local jail called for his assistance. Techniques based on Tom's method have spread both within Australia and overseas.

The next stage of evolution of this special muscle technique was made by Neil Skilbeck. Neil was an understudy under Tom but trained also in traditional chiropractic and osteopathic methods. Through his experience in bone and joint manipulation, Neil added other aspects of diagnosis and treatment. As a result of this, Myopractic has now evolved into an entirely different type of bodywork then bowen therapy. In 1999, government accreditation was granted for the Certificate IV in Myopractic. The course will continue to evolve as more efficient techniques are discovered in the future. A new diploma course has been approved as part of the evolution of this exciting Australian body work technique.
