SERVICES
I originally began my practice as a remedial massage therapist in 1994 after the completion of my Diploma of Health Science- Nursing. I was exposed to Craniosacral Therapy after the birth of my son. My pregnancy was filled with emotional stress and trauma. The delivery that followed was reflective of that being a long and difficult induced labor and ending in an emergency caesarean. My son was affected by that experience both physically and behaviorally. I knew that he needed support, and so did I. So at the tender age of 2 weeks, my son received his first treatment of Craniosacral therapy. The changes were profound, and as I observed this amazing therapy I knew this was my calling. It was a few yrs later I began the work, and it was also the beginning of incredible healing and spiritual evolution of myself, for not only did I learn the work but I actively began to get work done on myself. Within a couple of years from learning my first CST level I had transformed my practice to be dominated by CST eventually ceasing all massage. Now and for some time CST with some Bowen is all I do. I have a special love of working with children and have had additional training for that but all people are supported with this work. The main intension of my work is SER, I believe that our bodies act in service of our spirit, so to become conscious of a behavior, belief which does not reflect our true selves and what is needed to honor us, and as a tool to communicate that, our body screams. Yes there is physical injury, but the ability for our body to recover from that is greatly influenced by our emotional health. OUR BIOGRAPHY CREATES OR BIOLOGY. CST supports the change of this down to a cellular level. This work has been a catalyst for my own physical and emotional healing and spiritual growth creating a unique style and level of support. What I love about this work is that it re connects us to our own truth and the knowing that the ability to heal and grow comes from within and our connection to all.

Bowen Therapy

I have been an advanced Bowen therapist for the past 9 years. This gentle technique has amazing results. It offers people in extreme acute or chronic pain and the fragile, including the elderly or infants, a gentle pain free method of treatment. Which is extremely affective when an injury at first occurs, a time when other treatments like massage are contraindicated. There is no manipulation and no discomfort or pain when recieving the treatment. Bowen corrects imbalance within the body, relaxes muscles, and increases blood supply and lymphatic drainage. Best of all 3 treatments is all it takes to know whether it will work for you.

Craniosacral Therapy
This is truely where my passion lies.

Fundamentally craniosacral therapy (CST) helps remove stress and trauma from the body. This could be physical trauma, like a car accident, a fall, repetitive strain, or a difficult birth. Trauma can also be chemical, viral and emotional, like deep shock, depression, lifetime emotional issues or witnessing violence. Trauma leaves an imprint on the body, which over time, be that short or long, can cause dysfunction and or pain.

Unlike the name suggests CST is not just about working on the head, in fact it is an entire body therapy. There are two aspects to the process of the treatment. The first is to locate the restriction or imbalance, which may be causing a problem. The second is to encourage the restriction to release. This is achieved through highly developed palpation skills and an intuitive ability to support the body. The treatment is conducted whilst the client is fully clothed and the therapist works on the different areas of the body in a non-invasive way, very gently feeling the rhythm of the body that is created by the craniosacral system. Rather than pushing or manipulating the body into a set or ‘correct’ position, the therapist uses techniques to assist the body to release its own restrictions.

The craniosacral system envelops the central nervous system, which controls every function of the body. This system consists of the membranes and fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord, the bones of the face and cranium down to the sacrum and tailbone. Externally from this system is the connective tissue of the body which ultimately connects all tissue, bone and viscera (organs) together and to the craniosacral system. The reciprocal nature of the system means that restriction in one part of the system can cause pain and or dysfunction anywhere in the body, not just at the restriction. There can be many underlying issues occurring in the body that may be silent, but can be resulting in that problem which is screaming at you for attention. CST supports the discovery of those underlying issues so as to support the release more permanently. Therefore there is an extremely diverse range of problems CST can assist. Examples include, head injuries, birth difficulties, all forms of muscular skeletal pain, anxiety, migraines, whiplash injuries, sleeping difficulties in babies, jaw problems and emotional blockages.

Somatoemational Release

Somatoemotional Release (SER) is a process that expands on the principle of CST to help rid the mind and body of the residual effects of trauma which may manifest emotionally, behaviorally physically or even psychologically.

Joint research conducted by Dr John Upledger (founder of CST) and biophysicist Dr Zvi Kami in the late 70’s led to the discovery that the body often retains the imprint of the physical forces from accidents, injuries and emotional shock. Those dysfunctional areas are frequently isolated in what Dr Upledger calls ‘energy cysts’. Although a reasonably health body can adapt to energy cysts, extra energy is then required to perform normal functions. As time passes, maybe moments may be years, the adaptive pattern of the body losses its effectiveness. Symptoms and dysfunctions begin to appear and become increasingly difficult to suppress or ignore.

Intuitive methods and monitoring of the craniosacral rhythm are use to detect and facilitate the release of energy cysts. The therapists ability to support the body is governed by the individual on the table. There are many ways in which an SER can occur. Supporting the individual with dialogue through a conscious process is only one. There are some traumas which are simply still too traumatic for the person to re-experience or remember. As this work connects to higher levels of consciousness, how the release occurs is governed by it, therefore nothing will occur in a session which is ‘forced’ by the therapist. Avenues of release can occur in session or even after. What process is experienced is determined by the non-conscious of the individual on the table and will always be “safe’. This is not counseling, but a way of listening to the body and allowing it to identify areas or issues which it deems significant and whos consequence may be physical, emotional or behavioral.

I have a particular interest with working with children but gladly welcomes people of all ages.

Located close to Hamilton, appointments can be made directly through me on 0411426699.
